Can't comment on his surgical skills since I don't need knee or hip surgery. As a (general) physician his "skills" are completely lacking. He said he would make a referral for a MRI. He didn't; he didn't again when I called; he did on the second call but it took a week to do so. When the MRI came back, I got a copy of the results and read them. Indicated that hip and knee were almost normal, but spine had one moderate and 2 minor issues. Waited 3 days. He didn't call, so I called his office. Waited 3 more days. He called. Told me what the MRI said; duh. I asked what's next. He said, not his job. That I should talk to a spine surgeon or a pain management specialist. I asked which he recommended. He said 50/50, take your pick. I pursued ... which one. He said a surgeon would do surgery, pain management would try non surgical process. Duh. I said I prefer to avoid surgery. He said he would send referral to Pima Pain Mgmt. I got a call from Pima Pain 3 weeks later.

I would give zero stars if I could. His staff will NOT return phone calls. Even after two weeks of leaving messages, I have never received a return phone call. I was referred to him, yet have yet to even get an appointment. I need surgery for a complete rotator cuff tendon tear, yet after 2 weeks, still haven't received a call or appointment, let alone surgery. Don't waste your time. The staff clearly doesn't care.

At 86 I was hit by a car and suffered a broken hip. March 20, 2017 I was transported to St. Joseph's that afternoon and had surgery that night and walking in the morning. 18 days in Rehad - Sabino Canyon. I would and HAVE recommended Dr. Smith when possible.

We were very impressed with Dr Smith, my shoulder was a real challenge because of the poor condition it was in. My surgery was lengthy, but the result was better than I could have ever expected. My range of motion is amazing! The pain is gone. Thank you Dr. Preston Smith.

Dr. Smith performed a knee replacement for me in November, 2019. He is a great doctor. I was able to see him and schedule surgery quickly. I am 3 months out from surgery and just spent a week on a bicycling vacation. Dr. Smith is on top of the latest developments in his field. He has wonderful bedside manner and his office is courteous and professional. The day after the surgery, I was having pain management issues and, once Dr.Smith was contacted, he immediately took steps to resolves the issue. His follow-up visits are informative, and all my concerns and questions about recovery were addressed. I highly recommend Dr.Smith.

I wanted to anyone that needs a total knee replacement or other procedures that Dr. Smith performs, that from the first meeting, I could tell that I would be pleased to have him for my surgeon. First, he is down to earth, personable, made me feel at ease right away, and I thought the most important about Dr. Smith is, he is very passionate about his gift as an Orthopedic Surgeon. I think that is important. He stays up to date in his profession. I am very pleased with my new knee. Thank you!

New Doc in town! My 5 year old son fell and hurt his wrist. When I explained what happened to Dr. Smith, from my description, he told me what he thought was broke. An x-ray confirmed his diagnosis. Dr. Smith was extremely caring and made my quiet son feel very comfortable. The care we received was remarkable. Even though it was a minor break, Dr. Smith made us feel glad we came in. On our return appt to take off the cast, the same caring attitude hadn't changed. Glad we found Dr. Smith!
