What People Say About Dr. Pranat Kumar, MD
RecentHighestLowestMost Helpful
I was with him for more than a year, and he accomplished next to nothing. Following several useless fistulotomies, I tried the LIFT procedure. After which, I bled for seven hours in ER; his response to this was a vacuous shrug of the shoulders. Actually, for the better part of treatment, the condition worsened, including numerous new abscesses, nearly-constant moderate/severe inflammation, and intermittent fevers. After all of that occurred, he suggested a flap surgery: another technique with a low success rate, and with greater risk. If you do, nevertheless, decide to try this or any other U.S. anorectal surgeon, be sure to keep in contact with your local wound care center, take plenty of fiber to keep bowel movements relatively clean, and flush your wounds with at least a mild antibacterial solution. The fistula is an ancient medical problem which, in its more complex cases, is still poorly understood and treated; bear this in mind before you decide to submit yourself for surgery.

I met Dr. Kumar 5 years ago when my Daughter was in very poor medical condition. He preformed surgeries on her , prescribed medications, and took the time to explain every thing in great detail. I credit him with saving her life !! Today I returned to him by means of my Husband 's medical problem, only to find the same comfort in dealing with Dr. Kumar as he explained the situation and remedy in terms we could comprehend. He offered a solution and recommended follow up medical appointments to ensure my husbands future health is monitored. I am glad that this man has chosen SURGERY as his occupation. Doctor Kumar does not know how to communicate with his patients. I had 2 surgeries with him and was never given any discharge instructions. In fact the last surgery, he did not even come out to speak with my husband. Every follow up I had with him, I felt like he cared less and less. Do yourself a favor and find another colon surgeon, one that will take time to talk and explain things to you.

Dr. Kumar did surgery on my wife. She had complications after a week and called his office. He would not get on the phone. His nurse would only get on the phone or do the follow ups. Later after a trip to the emergency room that weekend he told the ER doctor he would see my wife the next business day. He lied. My wife called and his nurse said he was not available and she would do the follow up. Do not go to this man. If you have complications he will never see you again.
