Dr Kiran is Chief and Program Director, Division of Colorectal Surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Hospital, and a fantastically skilled surgeon. Very, very few doctors are able to create or repair continent ostomies (aka "Kock pouches") but he's worked with them for years (and with other continent diversion procedures) and he repaired my 18-year old K-pouch so flawlessly in 2018 that I was able to eat full meals the next day. I consider my K-pouch priceless because it rescued me from life with an ostomy bag and it is truly irreplaceable, so to turn it over to him for repairs was quite scary but Dr Kiran is amazing. I was very, very, very lucky to find him and I highly, highly, highly recommend him.

Dr Kiran, performed a serious surgery on my wife, removal of a fistula that did not go so well he kept avoiding my wife after surgery and sending his team in all the time to speak to my wife and we kept getting conflicting stories, Dr Kiran never showed up to speak to me or my wife or give her any direction from that point they sent my wife To another hospital where she stayed for eight months under the care of different doctors, it was a terrible experience with Columbia Presbyterian hospital and Dr Kiran, and from my understanding which was just told to me yesterday Dr Kiran He still is performing surgeries that are not turning out so well, Columbia Presbyterian really needs to take a good look at his end results that he does not follow through and leaves his patients in bad shape, Please stay away from Dr. Kiran!!

I have a Kock pouch, created in 1972 at Mayo. I was the seventh person in the US to have this revision from a Brook ileostomy. My search for knowledgeable, skilled doctors has been a challenge. Very few surgeons and gastro physicians are available, to those of us who need them at his time. Few were trained in this specialty, it’s not as revenue generating as other specialties. Dr. Kiran has proved to be experienced and accomplished with my intestinal and pouch issues. Those of us who have had this lifesaving procedure have almost no choices with selecting a highly skilled surgeon. Dr. Kiran has not operated on me yet, but has done a number of procedures. I have a great deal of confidence he has the knowledge, skills and experience to give me the best possible care. I’ve met with many surgeons who claim to have extensive surgical pouch experience, as of yet, I haven’t met any who give me feeling of confidence (in them) as Dr. Kiran does.

He is acting nice, but after months till I went thru my procedure I got to know that he is acting nice but like a sales person, He screwed me, did a real bad job and did big damage which can not be repaired, He tried to cover up with all kinds of lies and smiles to make me feel crazy and stupid. other Dr's told me that this damage is reckless behavior and people's health is not his priority. Stay away from him

He is an amazing knowledgeable doctor who cares tremendously for his patients. He saved my life by getting me into surgery for colon cancer ASAP and his phenomonal care post surgery as well. He is thorough and precise with his work. I recommended him to two other people I know from work who needed him for similar diagnosis. They raved about him as well. He is an absolute expert in this field. The few minute wait is nothing and absolutely worth every second to listen to this pro. His office persona/staff are very accommodating, helpful, caring, and pleasant to work with. He listens to you and reviews all of your tests thoroughly, your health history and family health history.

Great doctor, compassionate and caring. Dr Kiran and his office were excellent from the time we called to make an appointment at the recommendation of my gastroenterologist. Dr Kiran took the time to listen to me which few doctors had done before, He was undertake my major sugery effortlessly when others were hesitant to take this on and I had a very smooth postoperative recovery. I cannot thank Dr Kiran enough!

My first experience with Dr. Pokala Kiran was surely my last. Going in for Colon & Rectal Surgery is an already embarrassing and overwhelming experience. Dr. Kiran was determined to make it, not only an increasingly embarrassing assessment, but managed to make me more confused after. He continued to talk down to me, treated me less than, and refused to spend time and answer my questions. At one point he said "That's a question for your PCP." My advice is go find a doctor with more compassion.
