Overall my experience with Dr. Kerner was “under whelming.” After 2 x-rays and some physical therapy, it was finally decided I needed an MRI. The scan came back reflecting joint damage and arthritis. As an active and healthy 30+ year old, this was surprising to me and naturally I wanted to know more around the diagnosis. When I pressed with questions, Dr. Kerner grew impatient and I got the sense that he couldn’t wait to get off the phone. This is something I also picked up on during two other appointments with him (and clearly other patients have too based on reviews). Dr. Kerner was in and out of the exam room in record time compared to other Othos I've seen over the years. Orthopaedic surgeons I’ve seen in the past (for torn ACL, meniscus, ankle and IT band issues) took significantly more time to speak me and provide a comprehensive exam. Had Dr. Kerner taken more time to evaluate, the outcome would have been speedier treatment and less time/money wasted.

Due to the coronavirus the appointment was virtual. I have limited expertise with and access to smartophon, laptops, etc. Dr. Kerner and his staff were very understanding and patient with me. The appointment took place by phone and was satisfactory and assuring.

I would recommend Dr. Kerner to anyone needing an ankle replacement. It has been almost a year since my surgery and I am doing GREAT! He was very thorough in explaining what would take place, before and after the surgery. He is very personable and explained in terms I could understand. The whole process went smoothly, his PA and staff are also very friendly, patient and kind.
