Dr. Diesfeld became my specialist back in the days. I had ectopic pregnancy which took my Dr along time. My symptoms where never like a ectopic pregnancy. Which through my Dr and others off. My DR had called Dr D. in to look over me and bam I was in the hospital. I have had Dr D. since the 80's and I prefer him for my female stuff. He has great manners and very helpful also I would consider him as a friend. Great doctor I would give this man 10 Stars.. Thanks Dr Diesfeld

Conditions Treated

Dr. Diesfeld says..

Women's Health Partnership Medical Group, Dr. Patrick Diesfeld and Dr. Sis Pattamakomhave the capability, experience, and confidence to perform most gynecology surgeries using minimally-invasive methods. While many gynecologists still perform hysterectomies with large open incisions in the abdomen, our surgeons perform them laparoscopically and even vaginally (as well as traditionally when it's most appropriate). Dr. Diesfeld and Dr. Pattamakom can also perform surgery for bladder control problems and pelvic support problems  as a minimally-invasive procedure.

A wide range of minimally invasive surgeries

Some of the surgical procedures that Dr. Diesfeld and Dr. Pattamakom perform using minimally invasive techniques include:

  • Tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) for urinary incontinence
  • Hysterectomy
  • Myomectomy/uterine fibroid removal
  • Laparoscopic evaluation of infertility
  • Repair of pelvic organ prolapse
  • Hysteroscopic resection of submucous myomas/fibroids

Smaller incisions — and even no-incision procedures — mean there is less trauma to the body and less risk of infection. This approach also means you experience less pain and discomfort following surgery, fewer days in the hospital, shorter recovery times, quicker return to normal activities, and less postoperative scarring.Today, most of the surgical treatments for gynecologic conditions can be performed using minimally invasive techniques – many of them on an outpatient basis. Our surgeons combine these minimally-invasive techniques with the latest surgical methods for optimal and long-lasting results.

What are Fibroids?

Fibroids of the uterus are benign growths that frequently manifest with heavy menstrual flow, and/or pelvic pain and pressure. They also are often the underlying cause of infertility. Since their incidence increases with age, so does the likelihood of a woman's infertility having a component of this fibroid factor.

Additionally, fibroids can contribute to miscarriage, and premature labor and birth. For example, with a couple considering in-vitro fertilization, usually the uterus is surgically cleared of fibroids before undertaking this significant investment of energy and resources.

If fibroids are causing pain, bleeding, or infertility, and uterine preservation with or without fertility are desired, selective fibroid removal is considered. If the fibroid is solely within the endometrial cavity, it may be amendable to resection through the hysteroscopic approach (through the cervix).

However, most fibroids are within the wall, and the myomectomy requires cutting open the uterine wall, removing the myoma (fibroid), and suturing the tissue back together.

The Acessa™ Procedure

Today, there is a very exciting option available to patients who desire uterine preservation. The Acessa™ procedure is an outpatient treatment of fibroids that applies radiofrequency directly to each individual fibroid, under direct laparoscopic and ultrasound observation. The surrounding tissue is spared damage, and the adhesion rate is negligible. The use of a special intra-op ultrasound probe directly on the uterus allows detection & destruction of even very small fibroids. The patient is able to go home the same day, and typically requires minimal pain medicine. If you're suffering from fibroid symptoms, contact Dr. Diesfeld to learn more about your options. To learn more about how Acessa™ will change your life, visit our Fibroid Institute website.

Dr. Diesfeld's Care Philosophy

Drs. Diesfeld, Pattamakom, and midwife Roseann Tibbs have assembled this unique, highly-trained team to provide INDIVIDUAL CARE in a BOUTIQUE manner.

We are not a mega group, nor do we wish to deliver every baby in Ventura County.

Rather, our small group provides highly-individual care for the patient.  We are unusual in that we strive to deliver our own patients, 24/7.  We are not in a large call group!

We also are unique in having a full-time dedicated midwife, Roseann, available to care for you, throughout your pregnancy and delivery.

We have on-site ultrasound, and enjoy immediate proximity to the hospital.

We invite you to join the thirty thousand plus patients who have enjoyed their obstetric experience with us.  "We want you to feel at home here, to know that you can count on us and that we care about you and your health. Treating you with kindness, respect and compassion is the philosophy our team lives by every day."
