Paolo Fedi is an MD and PHD who has been practicing gastroenterology in Plattsburgh since 2006. He completed medical school at the University of Florence, Italy and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a thesis on the effects of smoking on healing of gastric ulcers in 1988. His interests in gastroenterology brought him to the US to complete a PhD in cancer biology in the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD. He then moved to Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC where he continue working on cancer biology at the Derald H Ruttenberg Cancer Center. There he spent 7 years as a head of a laboratory funded by NIH grants dissecting the molecular mechanisms of cancer growth and malignant transformation. In 2000, Dr. FEDI decided to return to medical care and completed residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in The the Bronx, and then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at NY Presbyterian Hospital, at Columbia University, in New York. He had the opportunity there to be trained under Dr. Lightdale and Dr. Stavropoulos and specialize in Barrett's esophagus and Endoscopy Ultrasound. He moved to Plattsburgh in 2006 and joined Gastroenterology Associates of Plattsburgh and then in 2015 opened an office on his own under Beaumont Gastroenterology Services. HIs love for medicine, and human interactions, brought him to the Plattsburgh area were he felt that practicing medicine in a more rural environment would be more rewarding compare to working in big city like New York. He enjoy the North Country and love Kayaking. He is very passionate about local history. He is a collector of maps and documents of Plattsburgh and Clinton county.
