I’ve had a handful of Doctors for mental health. Dr Thapar, his assistant Farrah Abraham are absolutely top notch. They both listened to me and my past issues. When prescribing medication they both approach it at using a lower dose to see how your body reacts to said medication. I have had zero issues with either one of them. Never had to sit in the waiting area for more than 10 minutes. When in their office I felt like they took all the time I needed.

Dr. Thapar is sweet as is Nitha Abraham. Office staff, via telephone could use some sensitivity training. I had the opportunity to speak to 2 different people in a matter of about 10 minutes. 1 male and 1 female. The first time I was disconnected. The second time a female answered, neither of them gave their name. (Bad phone etiquette ) They both left me feeling frustrated and as if I were bothering them. We all work in different industries, and perhaps the jargon may not be as easily understood or easily communicated, this is where patience compassion while assisting could have the biggest impact on someone’s day. Answer the phone and questions as if each person is your grandmother, mother or father.

Max. 10 minute sessions; bounce from one med to the other. Doesn't keep track of previous visits. Narcissistic individual with a terrible ego and no bedside manner. Sent wrong med dose to pharmacy 1st visit, never corrected (my primary physician had to send thru a script to fix it). By my 4th visit, he was suggesting I try things I had already done and should have been in my file. I honestly feel he's just in it for the money.

In three months I had 5 other psychiatrist who would not take me on as a patient, before I was referred to Dr. Nitin. Dr. Nitin never makes me feel pressured or uncomfortable when it comes to suggesting new medications. He always says “I’m not going to put you on something that you don’t like or that doesn’t work for you, if you have a problem with this medication we’re not going to do it anymore call me at any time and we’ll come up with a different plan”. Dr. Nitin doesn’t just start pushing heavy pills like other psychiatrist, he always try something lighter and more natural, or even alternative methods before escalating treatment based on his great judgment. Dr. Nitin has single handedly improved the quality of my day to day life. After sifting through so many other doctors through the years I feel so relieved to have Dr. Nitin, he has 100% restored my trust in psychiatrists.

Dr. Nitin Thapar is kind, compassionate and understanding. He is considerate of my time and I am always out of there within an hour. One time the pharmacy was out of my rx and I was going out of town the next morning so they called me in a new prescription to a different pharmacy and his nurse even called me to make sure everything went smoothly bc he didn't want me to be without it. The Orland Park office staff is friendly and the building is nice but the Chicago Ridge is kind of gross and the receptionist is rude and has a bad attitude but I only had to go twice now I make sure all my appts are in Orland. Highly recommend Dr. N Thapar

Dr. Nitin Thapar is an amazing doctor and psychiatrist. I've seen too many psychiatrists in my life for my mental disorders and I knew I had finally found the right one when I started going to Dr. Thapar. He is caring and he listens to the patient and I love that because I feel like he actually cares about my health and doesn't just see me as dollar signs. And lastly, he remembers his patients very well. I moved away for a year so I didn't see him for over a year and I came back to him just recently and he knew who I was immediately and remembered everything about me and it felt good that he was able to recall so much about our past visits without me reminding him or him reading his notes. If you want a doctor that listens to YOU and will make a customized plan to help get your mental health back on track!

Dr. Nitin Thapar is always available even when you constantly annoy him every month. He doesn’t seem to show frustration and seems to really really care about his patients. He had told me that he will always take care of me and he always has. He is a great doctor

Incredibly condescending and impatient. The dr. schedules too many patients and rushes through appointments. He does not listen at all and barely looks up from his computer. It's easy to be a crappy doctor if your patients have mental issues. Who will take our complaints seriously? Dr. Thapar is also very difficult to get in touch with if you have follow up prescription questions. If you are looking for a decent doctor...he is NOT one. Look elsewhere.

I haven't met a good, compassionate doctor who listens in a very, very long time. Thank you!!! FYI I saw Nitin Thapar, the reviews online that are not the greatest are from Pradeep Thapar. I agree with those reviews after seeing Pradeep before. Do not let those deter you from seeing Nitin Thapar, though!!! Those two are complete opposites and I am so glad I gave it a shot!!!

I had a bit of a wait, but when you wait for a good Dr. it's worth it. Dr. N. Thapar listened to my rambling for my first appointment and he didn't rush me out. I felt really comfortable with him and our treatment plan.
