I got urinary retention due to surgical anesthesia and got a catheter. I met with Dr. Ghandi after five days to remove the catheter. Instead of removing it, he choose to wait for two days to treat me first for a problem that I had been living with for 12 years. After the two days, I saw him again with clear symptoms of infection: dizziness, nausea, pain, high temperature (up to 101.4), high hear rate (112), shortness of breath. He refused to acknowledge that an infection existed, and prescribed a weak antibiotic just as a precaution for the multiple instrumentations I had. He did not even bother to take a urine sample to examine. I had an upcoming international trip in three days, and he was absolutely fine that I travel with the catheter. He arrogantly answered our questioning of his decision by saying that we should let him do his job. Four days later, I was admitted to a hospital because of the escalated infection. Luckily, I did not follow his advice and had cancelled my trip.

Dr. Gandhi has a good "bedside manner" and really listens to the patient. Equally important, his practice has current technology and equipment. The facility is very modern and clean.

My last visit with Nilay Gandhi on 12/31/18 was traumatic and I'm still living with the experience. However, I am recovering from a surgery that required more urgent attention than the secondary reason why I went to see him in October and November of last year, 2018; and I would do a more thorough review of my experiences with Nilay Gandhi and Potomac Urology, when I feel better in the next few weeks.

Dr Gandhi is a true professional! When I was first diagnonized I was scared to death and didnt want to go through with the procedure. Dr Gandhi took his time and talked to me and calmed me down and explained in details what the procedure entails and what to expect. He told me not to be afraid and that I was going to be alright! That changed my thinking and I feel privileged and lucky to have him as my physician knowing I'm in good hands! I'll have it no other way in this uncertain journey!

The Dr. is great face to face. The office personal, is really rude and you will never to get speak with nurse or Dr. after initial appointment. they will place your call on hold for over 40 min and the next one will come to repeat the same process again. If you have medical issues Please do not see This dr. as they do not care after they see you. Business phone line are not working and it is the only number for both Alexandria and Woodbridge office.

He's also a great listener and communicator who puts you at ease in discussing your situation and options, and in helping you to make the decision that works best for you. He takes a lot of time to make sure I understand my situation. Great bedside manner. Very much appreciated from the patient perspective. As far as recommendations to family and friends, I am very new to this medical condition and not that there has been anything wrong per se, I'd like to see how my situation is resolved.
