I decided at a very young age that I wanted to become an obstetrician. I was 7 when I watched my own mother go through pregnancy and became fascinated with pregnancy and birth. I started telling everyone Im going to deliver babies when I grow up. As I went through medical school my draw to the specialty confirmed what I'd felt from a very young age. One of the many reasons I love working at Duke is we are always well-equipped to deal with any emergencies which can arise unexpectedly. While most deliveries do not require any interventions I am happy we can offer anything needed on a moments notice. In addition to taking care of pregnant patients I enjoy taking care of adolescent women who are transitioning into adulthood. I also enjoy caring for perimenopausal patients and menopausal patients. I am happy to offer in office procedures such as essure tubal ligation which is a great option for women whom have completed childbearing. In addition I enjoy surgical procedures in the operating room when surgery is required to treat an issue that cannot be managed with medication.
