I have a friend who has seen Dr. Ungson on and off for 11 years. I understand some of the criticism due to his manners. He seems brisk, but he actually is to the point. If you are clear with him so is he. he has helped my friend every time she needed him. She would leave him because he did not prescribe what she wanted, so she saw somebody else who gave her the Xanax. She always ended up abusing it and so every time (after a hospital stay) she went back to Dr Ungson. And she was fine for a while until the routine started again. Dr. Ungson was very patient with her, for as long as he could. If you are truthful with him, and if you listen to him he does very well.

I've been a patient for almost 5 years I've had many scary episodes all he says is your medication is working you need counseling he spends literally 2 min with you I've timed it all he does is want a DNA test which shows very few medications that he has prescribed doesn't listen to me doesn't care if I have bad side effects from the meds he just ups them and tells you it's not the meds it's the disease after my last episode I lost all faith in him as he says I'm fine don't worry about it you need counseling I would not recommend him to anyone who wants to get help

Dr. Ungson is brilliant! He is an excellent doctor! You have to listen carefully to him when he talks because he doesn't waste time with a patient not being honest with him when he asks a question . He moves fast and accurate! He helps his patients! Just listen to him!!!!

I was nervous about taking my mom here after reading the bad reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff and Dr. Ungson. He listened to everything my mom and I said. He was compassionate and gave us a treatment plan that will hopefully have my mom back to her normal, happy self.

Dr Ungson sat and listened to both my his and and myself for over an hour. He discussed a treatment plan, and we really liked what we heard. He is very willing to help. I'm grateful to both the doctor and his staff for getting us in as quickly as they did also.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ungson for about 2 years now and I can't believe some of these reviews. Almost exactly what I'm going through. I don't feel like he listens and he refuses to change my meds regardless of the fact that I've gotten.worse. He got pissed off when I missed an appt. I had a death in.my family! Very unprofessional. In the process of finding another doctor. My advice, look for another doctor!

I have known Dr. Ungson for 15 years professionally, having worked with him with numerous patients and also was pleased with the care that he gave my husband. He is very knowledgeable and thorough. I believe he always has the patient's best interest in mind and he approaches treatment and prescribing with that in mind. I highly recommend him. Erin Troup, RN

Not particularly fond of having the meds my PCP prescribed thrown in the trash or being treated like a toddler.

Dr. Ungson takes a very antiquated approach to the field. His paradigm is that the patient does not have enough personal insight to know if they are feeling well and therefore is dependent upon him like a child. Therefore, even if you are doing great, you are required to see him monthly (which, of course, has a monetary benefit to his practice.) It is my sincere hope that Dr. Ungson, an intelligent man, will familiarize himself and instead apply empowering approaches to his practice.

Run away as fast as you can. If you don't agree with him , he throws you out of his office. Very unprofessional. Could care less if your in distress. No compassion at all. I think he could use some anger management and a Psychiatrist of his own. I know too many people that feel the same way about him. Too bad they allow doctors like him to practice.

Initial visit... contrary to reviews, I found Dr. Ungson to be genuine, compassionate, and knowledgeable (though I am no MD). He was backed up but did his best to be efficient without sacrificing the quality of my visit. He is somewhat soft-spoken. Felt comfortable sharing with him. His office manager was busy and handled it well.

He seemed to be somewhat concerned and trustworthy. I wnet to help and to be able to trust the person who has my life in his hands. My issues are he talks to fast. I have seen him become very unprofessional. the doctor began to seemingly get upset cause i missed my appt. He put talked down tp me telling me as if i was in big trouble.. Even thou i told him those drugs he prescribing have. Deadly side effects. He wanted to take what ever he wanted to give me. Made me feel like a subhuman.

I don't recommend this Dr. Me and my husband went because we were pursuing adoption. He was running late at our appointment. Total time spent less than 15 min for both. We both did an extensive questioner we filled out. Long story short, I made a follow up per request from my social worker to ask how he can claim that I need help and more sessions. He became defensive, I spent 13 minutes with him this am. He talks extremely fast. Hard to understand at times. In and out like cattle,

Its like a sheep herding experience. He talks to you for about 30 seconds and I don't think he listens to anything you say. I have ridiculous anxiety and panic attacks. I've had them for years, I hate it but they just come on. He didn't care, he just wanted to take me off my anxiety medicine. I told him I don't need them everyday, just take them when I need them. From the first visit he didn't listen and cut me down and down and then none. Had to go through Holidays with none, was not easy.
