Dr. Bell is the A.G. McNeese, Jr. Professor of Ophthalmology at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He is also the Director of the Glaucoma Service at the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic, which is the clinical arm of the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science. Dr. Bell is actively involved in teaching medical students, ophthalmology residents, and glaucoma fellows at the Cizik Eye Clinic, Memorial Hermann Hospital, and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital (Harris Health System). During his tenure as the Chief of the Ophthalmology Service at LBJ Hospital (2003-2015), Dr. Bell was instrumental in expansion of the number of resident trainees and the construction of a significantly larger clinic space to meet the demands of the ever-growing clinical and surgical patient volumes. Dr. Bell's research interests are in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, with a special focus on imaging of the anterior segment of eyes with primary angle closure. Dr. Bell has presented his research findings at numerous scientific meetings and has more than 40 peer-reviewed journal publications. He has been invited to write many book chapters and has co-authored a book entitled Complications of Glaucoma Surgery.
