Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Patel "As a geriatrician, I believe in holistic care of older adults. I believe in treating the whole person and where they come from, the social support they have rather than the heart, the glucose etc. I strongly believe in the team approach and coordinate with other specialists treating my patients. We also have a great team of case manager, pharmacist in our practice to help coordinate with care of our patients. We believe in maintaining functional status and quality of life of our patients."

Patient Comments (2)
in San Antonio, TX |
Dr. Patel for 5 months has been unable to get me a simple CPAP mask. I requested one on my first visit & many times after, at least 4 times in person & too many calls. Five times I have been told I would be called to make arrangements. Not one call. Untreated sleep apnea is a life threatening condition. Recent research indicates a very high percentage of night time heart attacks are caused by apnea episodes. As a patient of Dr. Patel I am unable to be treated. My health and life are jeopardized.

This is a dream doctor. We decided to change to a geriatric physician after about 16 years with another doctor because of long waits in the waiting room, unanswered calls, problems with medicine refills, etc. Dr. Patel was a breath of fresh air. Appts are on time, staff was friendly and helpful, and Dr. Patel does not rush us, but answers questions, explains everything, and is friendly. We feel like someone cares.! As part of the UTHSC, all records can be viewed by all doctors we see.
