He obtained his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and did his orthopedic training at New York University, Bellevue Medical Center. Dr. Shuren did his subspecialty training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. He has developed expertise in treating all types of upper extremity conditions including arthritis, traumatic and congenital disorders, as well as occupational and repetitive stress disorders from the shoulder to the hand. He performs endoscopic carpal tunnel releases and arthroscopic wrist surgery as well as more traditional procedures. He has published and presented numerous articles in the field of hand surgery."
