This content was provided by Dr. Layton "Dr. Nancy L.R. Layton, MD is the founder and principal at Advanced Pain and Neuromuscular Consultants of Brevard. She first began her medical practice in Melbourne as a Board Certified Family Practitioner in 1989 after receiving her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Iowa. After several years working as a Biochemistry research assistant at Louisiana State University School of Medicine-New Orleans in the field of protein kinase effects at the neural synapse, she attended medical school at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine-New Orleans, then completed a Family Practice Internship and Residency through Florida State University at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. She returned to medical training completing an Anesthesiology Residency and Interventional Pain Fellowship at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2002. Since that time she has practiced Interventional Pain Medicine full-time in Melbourne. She maintains her Board Certification in Family Practice and her subspecialty Board Certification in Pain Medicine. Dr. Layton has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards throughout her career, including being named a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice in recognition of her educational achievement. Dr. Layton is an Attending Physician with Active staff privileges providing inpatient admissions and consultative care at Holmes Regional Medical Center. She also maintains Attending Physician with Active staff privileges at Wuesthoff Hospital Medical Center, however is not currently admitting or consulting at this locations. Dr. Layton serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, "Pain Physician". She has written several articles published in peer-reviewed journals. She makes presentations to colleagues, students and nurses as well as the lay public on topics involving pain medicine. Active in professional organizations, Dr. Layton is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Academy of Pain Medicine, International Spine Intervention Society, the American Academy of Family Practice, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, and the Brevard County Medical Society, among others. Dr. Layton is caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable. She is an excellent and experienced physician who demonstrates a clinical acumen that spans across medical specialties. Her medical advice is precise and intuitive. Dr. Layton's sense of humor gives her a wonderful bedside manner. While continuing her full-time practice of Interventional Pain Management for adults, she is focusing on Regenerative Medicine treatment options for chronic spinal, joint and soft tissue chronic pain diagnoses. I have been a patient of Dr Layton for 3 years she and her staff I feel are very like able and they are concernd for your health. I would recommend dr Layton to any one plus my family members. I also seen her about 6 years ago when she was at the back center , like I said she is a very good dr.
