"Practicing both obstetrics and gynecology had too many distractions for me and I am now better able to dedicate myself to my patients. I love nothing more than listening and talking to my patients."
Dr. Nancy Hafner, a board-certified gynecologist, is a native New Englander and grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts. Deciding to focus solely on women's health and gynecology, she joined Fairfax Gynecology Group in 1997. Her areas of expertise include menopause, contraception, fibroids, adolescent care, vulvar disorders, abnormal pap smears, and endometriosis. Dr. Hafner completed her medical education at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, after which she pursued a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the George Washington University Hospital. Dr. Hafner met her husband, Gordon, in the med school library at GW, have been married for 26 years, and have two daughters. Both are graduates of Langley High School—one is going to law school and the other to college in the fall. Her free time for many years was spent as a soccer mom (both of her girls have played high-level competitive soccer). She was the team manager for many years, but as an empty nester in the fall, she will be spending more time exercising, gardening, cooking, sewing, and collecting antique quilts.
