This content was provided by Dr. Dbouk "A native of Lebanon, Dr. Dbouk earned both his bachelor's and medical degrees from the American University of Beirut. After completing a residency in internal medicine at the university, Dr. Dbouk moved to the United States where he completed an additional residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Dbouk then completed both his fellowship in gastroenterology and fellowship in transplant hepatology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Through this additional fellowship, he gained expertise in managing liver diseases as well as caring for patients with end-stage liver disease and recipients of liver transplantation. During this time, Dr. Dbouk's research was recognized by the American Federation for Medical Research. In 2012, Dr. Dbouk joined the faculty at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis as an assistant professor and served as a transplant hepatologist at the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute. He was also the associate program director of the transplant hepatology fellowship program and served on the medical advisory board for the American Liver Foundation in Memphis. Dr. Dbouk's research has focused on outcomes in liver transplant recipients, management of Hepatitis C in difficult to treat patient populations, and the management of complications of cirrhosis. He has lectured frequently on these topics, co-authored several textbook chapters, and has been published in various peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Current Treatment Options in Gastroenterology, and Digestive Diseases and Sciences. Dr. Dbouk also serves on the editorial board for several medical journals. Dr. Dbouk is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and he is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease and the American Society of Transplantation. His special areas of clinical interest include transplant hepatology, treatment of viral hepatitis, as well as preventing and managing complications associated with end stage liver disease. Dr. Dbouk is fluent in Arabic and joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2016. "
