TAVR
My cardiologist diagnosed a bicuspid valve and suggested I see Dr. Amed at UAB. I met with him on April 6,2022 and he recommended a TAVR procedure ASAP. On April 13th I had the TAVR procedure; it was completely painless. I went home on the 15 was driving on the 18th. On the 20 th of April I resumed all activities which included push mowing yard and other house and yard work. I am participating in Cardiac rehab and would strongly suggest good for peace of mind. Back to walking 3.3 miles per hour. Went back for my month check up and all was great will see them again in a year. Two things: most reassuring statement he made was if you fell out of an airplane and broke all bones the TAVR valve would not move. 2 I would rather have TAVR than a dental procedure. I am 72 years old today and look forward to playing with my grandchildren for many years!!!

as a new patient I was apprehensive of the surgery. I met with the anathologist, nurse practioners and nurses which relieved some on my anxiety. The chaplin was also very helpful. After six hours of waiting I began to develope my anxiety again. When I was rolled into the OR the staff was so energetic and happy I lost all my fear They were great at making me feel every thing was going to be fine. I also appreciate my nurse after the surgery for the great job he did. He was there to answer my questions and explain what he was doing. Please give your staff my appreciation for all they did in making this surgery one I will never forget (in a good way)!

Dr. Ahmed is a wonderful doctor and his bedside manner was a plus as well. He was very patient with my questions and my 91 year old dad's as well, he told us to ask as many as we liked and as many times as we liked...that made us feel a lot better during our visit. He is such an intelligent being, I am thankful for the referral to him.

Dr. Stephen Stair, my primary physician at Kirklin Clinic, UAB, referred me to Dr. Mustafa Ahmed; Dr. Ahmed and his surgical team at the UAB Structural Heart and Valve Replacement Clinic replaced my aortic valve in December of 2020. I am 77 years old, and the valve replacement has made a dramatic difference in my quality of life. Aortic stenosis had diminished my energy, my stamina, and my enthusiasm for activities I regularly enjoy. New valve. New life. Dr. Ahmed is a thoughtful and exceptionally gifted, nationally recognized cardiologist. He, his diagnostic and surgical team, and staff personify medical excellence. The diagnostic tests and procedures as well as the valve replacement surgery went like clock work. With only a few standard post-operative restrictions, I was performing my regular routine the following day. Struggling with the effects cardiovascular disease? I encourage you to contact Dr, Ahmed and the UAB Structural Heart and Valve Clinic, UAB, Birmingham.

After being transferred, by ambulance, from another hospital, my dad was unable to breath and had been given a low chance of survival. We prayed, we cried, and began to try to accept the finality of life. Then Dr. Ahmed walked in and we knew almost immediately that we would walk out of the hospital as we came in, an entire family. He did a new procedure called tav-r, it was like flipping a switch. His kindness and smile is only overshadowed by his obvious intelligence/ability. Grateful!

Met with Dr. Ahmed and his team for a 3D TEE which can be daunting procedure for the patient. His team (nurse Brooke, CRNA Jason, and Anesthesiologist Dr. Patel) immediately put me at ease with good information and answers to all my questions. They work very well as a team and I highly recommend Princeton Baptist Medical center as they were "All" perfect from my admission to discharge. After being in several hospitals for A-Fib related issues (including Cleveland Clinic) I will return to PBMC

Dr Ahmed fixed mothers heart valve and we are so grateful. She was told there was no option and would die. She is 86 years old and had been in 2 hospitals 5 times over 1 month for short breath when the tight heart valve was discovered. She was sent home to die and told her risk was too high. Finally we were referred to Dr Ahmed. He asked mother if she wanted him to try and he fixed the valve with mini-surgery. She went home in 2 days, we were shocked. She's doing so well. Dr Ahmed is the best.
