I would recommend Dr. Dharan to anyone looking for an excellent surgeon, who will also be empathetic with you. Not the kind of thing that you think about when looking for a surgeon but his office staff are also excellent. They are very knowledgeable and helped guide me through a myriad of paperwork that followed my disability from work. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have this kind of care, if like me, you are surprised to find yourself needing heart surgery and bewildered as you try to choose the right surgeon from a crowd of unknown doctors.

I underwent a mitral valve repair surgery with Dr. Dharan in January 2021. I am about 2 months post surgery, back at work, going to cardiac rehab a few times a week and feeling better each day. I am grateful to Dr. Dharan not only for his skill and the success of my surgery but for the care and concern he showed me before and after the procedure as well. He always patiently answered all of my questions, explained my options, and helped put my mind at ease. Dr. Dharan and his office staff were kind, compassionate and professional. I am grateful to Tanya on Dr. Dharan's staff for the help with the paperwork and walking me through the logistics of the process. I also feel very good about the care I received during my stay at John Muir Concord hospital. I was nervous about being there during Covid but there were strict protocols to protect everyone, the facility was clean, and the staff was attentive, capable, and caring.

Dr. Dharan replaced my Aortic Valve and performed a double bypass on 8/7/20. Now, 5-months post surgery, I'm walking an average of 25 miles per week and have successfully been able to ride my mountain bike up to the 2nd ranger station on Mt. Diablo twice this month. Dr. Dharan was always very responsive to all my questions and I'd highly recommend him to anyone facing cardiac surgery. ICU care at John Muir in Concord was also extremely good.

An extraordinary individual is best for me to describe Dr. Dharan. I had an unexpected quadruple bypass, and the way he engaged and prepared me for the operation, taking the time to listen, describe and give me a level of confidence that was immeasurable as one confronts such an event. His humane aspects and surgical abilities seem unsurpassed based on my experience. I thank Dr. Dharan from the bottom of my (literally) heart, for a very successful operation and recovery!

Dr. Dharan and his Staff both in the Office Supporting him as well as the operating room are "Best in Class". A month ago I had a Mitral Valve repair. I had plenty of anxiety going into the procedure. Dr. Dharan as well as his office staff made me feel very confident of the process and outcome. I am currently in Cardiac Rehab and all has been great. The entire process was seamless for me. From pre-meetings with Dr. Dharan to the many insurance request I had for Tanya at the office in which was expedited at every request right away. Top notch Surgeon and top notch supporting team.

I had the Dx of Mitral Valve prolapse by echo-cardiogram. It was severe and I needed surgery. Dr. Dharan did an open-heart repair though a small incision in my right chest wall, between the ribs. I never experienced pain unless I coughed. I was out of the hospital in 5 days, and little more than two weeks later back to full functioning. Dr. Dharan was kind, amazingly skilled, explained everything fully to me and my family. I cannot recommend him for heart surgery too highly, he is talented and ethical in every way. Bob Nozik, MD

Excellent surgeon! I had a mitral valve repair done recently, and Dr. Dharan was very patient in answering all my questions and putting me at ease. Prior to the procedure, he walked me through the process and gave me a timeline of what to expect during the recovery period. So far everything has gone exactly as Dr. Dharan had predicted. After the surgery, I often saw him in the ICU and Progressive Care checking up on his patients.

Dr. Dharan is the most compassionate and empathetic physician I have had the pleasure to work with. His caring manner and clear explanations were extremely reassuring to me and my family as we had to decide between a stent or bypass procedure. I chose the bypass and am completely confident it was the right choice. Mine and my family's impression of Dr. Dharan was echoed by ALL of the nurses and staff at CCU in John Muir, who said I was lucky he was my cardiologist/surgeon.

Dr. Dharan performed an aortic valve replacement on me in May, 2018 at John Muir Cardiovascular Institute in Concord.. From my first visit with him, through my hospital stay and my follow-up appointment, he provided professional insight into my condition and confidence in the outcome. During my hospital stay, I also heard nothing but praise from ICU and PCU staff about his professional skills and personal relationships with patients and staff.

Dr. Dharan was recommended by my cardiologist, Dr. Parmodh Sidhu. We began with a personal interview and Dr. Dharan was extremely helpful and listened and questioned in a very comprehensive manner. He scheduled a series of tests and procedures prior to my actual mitral valve surgery to ensure full understanding of my condition and situation. My surgery was a complete success. I am grateful to have had Dr. Dharan as my surgeon and highly recommend him. Than you Dr. Dharan.

Dr. Dharan was recommended by multiple sources; our primary care physician, pulmonologist & cardiologist. He is the Doctors, Doctor. After we con- sidered 3 surgeons, Dr. Dharan was the clear choice. He was on time for our appt., well versed about my husband’s case BEFORE he entered the room, was focused and engaged during our visit and showed outward concern for our concerns. Dr. Dharan performed both a lung biopsy and heart valve repair 5 wks. apart. Both 5-star experiences w/stellar results!

I don't recommend Dr.Dharan. He has a really poor bedside manner. 30 mins before my mom's surgery, he failed to draw her blood and poked through her vein due to lack of skills. He didn't apologize, instead, after my mom said it's hurting, he said: it isn't a big deal to be hurting for a minute. And he threatened her surgery might be cancelled. My mom had a heart attack 2 months ago, and his rude demeanor negatively affected her emotional disposition. He demonstrated no empathy. Disappointing
