I would absolutely recommend Dr. Dharan as a five.

Triple Bypass Surgery is a life alternating experience. Frankly, it is very scary and intimating. Dr. Dharan and his team were able to alleviate these concerns by providing me and my family with extraordinary support, information and care before and after surgery. Everything was explained in a simple, direct and helpful manner. When issues arose, his calm, reassuring demeanor gave me the strength and belief that all would be well in the care of this doctor. And, I was right. Dr. Dharan is incredible and I would highly recommend him to anyone confronting heart disease. I have been truly blessed to have him using all his knowledge and experience for my well-being. Because of him, I am looking forward to many more years with my wife, family and friends.

Wonderful Man / Amazing Surgeon
I have had heart issues for 2-1/2 years and was referred to Dr. Dharan in March. He said it was time for MVR repair surgery soon. Dr. Dhuran was wonderful; patient, kind, confident and thorough. Surgery was a succes. I did have some issues relating to the anesthesia - we believe - no fault to the surgeon or surgery team. They brought in a neurologist that helped me recover from that issue but I was amazed how Dr. Dharan was there every morning checking on me for 12 days. He was so concerned and caring. The entire team and Concord Cardiac Center were amazing. They all worked together and encouraged me to get stronger and better - which I did. I had a more severe leaky valve and Dr. Dharan said my heart is now perfect and should last me a lifetime. It's been 7 wks and I can tell the difference aleady walking on inclines. I am walking 2 miles a day and feel great. Before surgery, I was out of breath easily on hills and stairs. Dr. Dharan is an amazing surgeon! I feel blessed!

“All the Stars Were In Line “
I was so blessed and very fortunate to have landed Dr. Dharan as my Cardiothoracic Surgeon. I was transferred to John Muir for an emergent surgery to repair a missed aortic dissection from another hospital /doctor. I was afraid and fearful of the unknown. Meeting Dr. Dharan outside the operating room for the briefing for my emergent surgery and just speaking with him about everything going on a weight was lifted and I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Dharan’s confidence emanated. My surgery went well, he kept my family up to date during the surgery and most of all he followed up with me daily while I was inpatient. Dr. Dharan explained more to me on my heart conditions that I have ever understood from my very own providers over the years. He has many years of experience in his field and is very knowledgeable. His bed side service is impeccable . My post op visit was also a great experience and he answered all my questions and concerns . Thank you Dr. Dharan for my second chance at life!

Dr. Dharan is an amazingly skillful surgeon with a bedside manner to match. After the first week post surgery, I felt like a new person. Was walking over a mile a day in one month. Would recommend Dr. Dharan and his staff to anyone who ask. Thank you for a new lease on life.

Aortic Valve Replacement
I would recommend Dr. Dharan to anyone looking for an excellent heart surgeon. He is kind, empathetic, and made himself available to my family when we needed him; whether for an emergency or just to answer questions about my condition and surgery. His office staff is incredible! They are extremely knowledgeable and helped guide me through the mounds of paperwork that followed my disability from work. I was so stressed and shocked from my health issues, they brought a level of humanism that calmed and guided me through my ordeal. I would have been lost without this doctor and his support staff.

Triple By-pass Surgery
On hearing the news in early Oct 2022 after my angiogram that it will be a most tricky attempt to put stents at three significantly blocked arteries, which could result in either a stroke or even death, Dr Muralidharan the surgeon visited me at the hospital and said: ‘I’ll take care of you and do an open heart triple by-pass surgery tomorrow - don’t worry’. That was the most reassuring words I’ve heard in my life here in the US. The peace that flooded my spirit at that moment is inexpressible and my family around me was overjoyed on hearing that. The next day was wheeled in and he along with his brilliant team performed a successful surgery on me with the help of the Lord. At a later meeting with the surgeon I told him: ‘Apart from the God who created my inmost being and knit me together in my mother’s womb, you are the only human ever, yes ever, to hold my heart in your hand and restore it - thank you’. As of this writing, my ticker is working well - thanks Dr. Muralidharan!

I had a minimally invasive mitral valve repair a couple of months ago. My symptoms of shortness of breath and palpitations went away. I feel great and back to regular lifestyle. I live 3 hours away and came to get it done with Dr Dharan. Very happy that he did a very incision and perfectly repaired the mitral valve.

Dear Healthgrades, I would like to take this time to reflect on my surgery and the excellent care I received form East Bay Cardiovascular and Thoracic Associates (EBCVT). I was impressed with Dr. Murali Dharan’s demeanor and his ability to concisely explain by procedure and what to expect after. His experience and expertise are second to none. I went in with some apprehension, but after my meeting with Dr. Dharan he was able to assure me that all would go well and it did. I was able to bounce back quickly and I was back at work after 6 weeks of recovery. The staff at EBCVT are proficient and efficient in all they do. They are courteous and go out of there way to make sure your concerns and/or needs are taken care of. This physician practice is truly what I consider an organization that strives for “Best Practices”.

I highly recommend Dr. Dharan. He is one of the kindest doctors that I have ever had. I never had any type of heart procedure before so I was very scared. Dr. Dharan made me feel at ease from my first visit with him prior to the procedure. After the procedure, which went very well, Dr. Dharan and his staff followed up with me and made sure that I had the best follow up care. His staff did an excellent job in communicating with my employer regarding my time off from work and my eventual return to work.

I would recommend Dr. Dharan to anyone looking for an excellent surgeon, who will also be empathetic with you. Not the kind of thing that you think about when looking for a surgeon but his office staff are also excellent. They are very knowledgeable and helped guide me through a myriad of paperwork that followed my disability from work. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have this kind of care, if like me, you are surprised to find yourself needing heart surgery and bewildered as you try to choose the right surgeon from a crowd of unknown doctors.

I underwent a mitral valve repair surgery with Dr. Dharan in January 2021. I am about 2 months post surgery, back at work, going to cardiac rehab a few times a week and feeling better each day. I am grateful to Dr. Dharan not only for his skill and the success of my surgery but for the care and concern he showed me before and after the procedure as well. He always patiently answered all of my questions, explained my options, and helped put my mind at ease. Dr. Dharan and his office staff were kind, compassionate and professional. I am grateful to Tanya on Dr. Dharan's staff for the help with the paperwork and walking me through the logistics of the process. I also feel very good about the care I received during my stay at John Muir Concord hospital. I was nervous about being there during Covid but there were strict protocols to protect everyone, the facility was clean, and the staff was attentive, capable, and caring.

Dr. Dharan replaced my Aortic Valve and performed a double bypass on 8/7/20. Now, 5-months post surgery, I'm walking an average of 25 miles per week and have successfully been able to ride my mountain bike up to the 2nd ranger station on Mt. Diablo twice this month. Dr. Dharan was always very responsive to all my questions and I'd highly recommend him to anyone facing cardiac surgery. ICU care at John Muir in Concord was also extremely good.

An extraordinary individual is best for me to describe Dr. Dharan. I had an unexpected quadruple bypass, and the way he engaged and prepared me for the operation, taking the time to listen, describe and give me a level of confidence that was immeasurable as one confronts such an event. His humane aspects and surgical abilities seem unsurpassed based on my experience. I thank Dr. Dharan from the bottom of my (literally) heart, for a very successful operation and recovery!

I had the Dx of Mitral Valve prolapse by echo-cardiogram. It was severe and I needed surgery. Dr. Dharan did an open-heart repair though a small incision in my right chest wall, between the ribs. I never experienced pain unless I coughed. I was out of the hospital in 5 days, and little more than two weeks later back to full functioning. Dr. Dharan was kind, amazingly skilled, explained everything fully to me and my family. I cannot recommend him for heart surgery too highly, he is talented and ethical in every way. Bob Nozik, MD
