It's often difficult to pin point that exact moment in your life when you've decided your career direction. I've always had a desire to help people for as long as I can remember and discovered I had a strong interest in biology. I loved the science of medicine and after hearing a lecture presented by an Osteopathic physician, my direction was clear. The Osteopathic philosophy of looking at the entire patient, not just organs and systems, resonated with me. Health promotion and disease prevention would break down the barriers to good health.
It's hard work to stay healthy and especially as we age. My patients know that it's difficult. We work together to build a strong relationship and never sidestep or take the easy way to achieve good health.
As your healthcare team, we share a philosophy that the patient is a whole being. My certified medical assistant, Molly, takes time daily to listen and understand our patients' challenges. She does a tremendous job of connecting with our patients so they feel valued. Her interaction helps to make my patient connection with them even stronger. As a team, we are very sensitive to everyone's time so we try to stay on task to be sure everyone has the same experience.
Five rules for keeping healthy:
1. Eat your vegetables
2. Find Jesus Christ
3. Get adequate sleep
4. Get plenty of exercise
5. Go for annual physical exams
