Dr. Crane's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Crane "Dr. Crane completed her undergraduate degree at Yale University and her medical school training at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Crane completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. During her fellowship, she was honored as a new investigator by the NIMH for her study of the behavioral symptoms due to Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Crane was a founding member of the International Society for Frontotemporal Dementias. Dr. Crane has received numerous clinical and research awards in the areas of Alzheimer's disease, geriatric depression, frontotemporal dementia and end-of-life care. Dr. Crane is the founder and medical director of the clinical start-up, Genesis Neuroscience Clinic, a multidisciplinary memory disorders clinic. Her motivation to create a start-up was to provide community-wide clinical evaluation of cognitive impairment. Dr. Crane believes that neuroimaging biomarkers to support the diagnosis will lead to cost savings downstream. This unique model of care incorporates support from local non-profits including Alzheimer's Tennessee, Knox County Senior Services, the Purple Cities Alliance and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. The second goal that she has achieved was to develop an internship program to inspire the next generation of clinicians to pursue a career in geriatric care. Previously, Dr. Crane was Director of Clinical Research as well as the Associate Director of Cole Neuroscience Clinic. She also worked directly with the late Coach Pat Summitt and the Pat Summitt Foundation in the development of educational outreach to East Tennessee. Dr. Crane has served on the Board of Directors at Alzheimer's Tennessee since 2007. She has been a leader in the Outreach Workgroup for the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. Dr. Crane has been recognized as a leader by the East Tennessee community as an inductee of Leadership Knoxville and the Executive Woman's Association. Under her leadership, the Knoxville community started a frontotemporal dementia conference and a community-wide educational series with the goal of raising Alzheimer's awareness."

I've been to Dr. Crane's office multiple times. She is an outstanding doctor with expertise in dementia care. Our family has had very positive interactions with Dr. Crane and her staff. She also takes time to talk with us about caregiver issues. We have been to other memory clinics and Dr. Crane's is the best in TN.

Dr Crane is excellent doctor - office staff is incompetent. My husband has seen her for several years at UT. Wanted to continue seeing her and was assured that Genesis would accept his insurance. He had an appointment scheduled for 3 months. I took the day off work because he doesn't drive. When we arrived we were told his insurance was not accepted. The office should have contacted us since they were aware of what insurance he had beforehand. Also other negative interactions with office staff.
Dear Reviewer, I hope that you may reconsider your negative review. I am sorry for the misunderstanding and I hope that we will expand our insurance options in the near future. I appreciate your consideration as I take my practice quality very seriously. Thank you, Dr. Crane

Dr Crane is an exceptional doctor with an Ivy League education but a down to earth and authentic approach to caring for our family member with Alzheimer's. She is extremely knowledgeable- but if she is not sure of a specific diagnosis she tells us so. Our family has stayed with her since 2009 and and will continue to follow her even when she changes to her new private practice.
