This content was provided by Dr. Carrion-Jones "Dr. Monica Carrion-Jones is a dual-board-certified physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) as well as Electrodiagnostic Medicine. A graduate of the University of Panama Medical School, she completed her residency at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and completed an Electrodiagnostic Medicine Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Jones served as an Assistant Professor at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. During this time, she was the Director of the Electrodiagnostic Medicine Laboratory and taught PMR residents how to perform Electrodiagnostic tests. She has also conducted extensive research that has been published in medical journals to include subjects ranging from Neurotoxicology to dysfunction in the nervous system following spinal cord injuries. PMR is a medical specialty concerned with diagnosis, evaluation, and management of persons of all ages with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability. Dr. Jones' offers a variety of non-surgical treatment options including nerve conduction studies and EMG's, therapeutic injections, and Botox injection therapy for chronic migraines, cervical dystonia, and spasticity. PMR Physicians are trained in the rehabilitation of neurologic disorders, and in the diagnosis and management of impairments of the musculoskeletal (including sports and occupational aspects) and other organ systems, and the long-term management of patients with disabling conditions. Dr. Jones moved to the United States over 20 years ago from Panama City, Panama. She believes in patient-centered care and her greatest joy is being able to give patients back their quality of life. In her free time, Dr. Jones enjoys spending time with her family and traveling."
