Dr. Manley's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Manley "Dr. Mollie Manley is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in medical conditions of the arm: finger tips to the shoulder. She sees patients from newborn to centenarian. Dr. Manley was born and raised in a small town in Ohio. She attended Walsh Jesuit High School and was a 4 sport letter winner in addition to National Merritt Scholar. She received a basketball scholarship at the California University of Pennsylvania where she served as team captain. She was a part of the Honors Society and was awarded a scholarship to go to Africa to study HIV/AIDS. During this time, she was also inducted into the Tri Beta Honor society. Dr. Manley then completed her medical school education at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio where she concurrently earned a Master's degree in Applied Anatomy. She continued her athletic career in medical school by playing professional football and was the starting defensive end for the Cleveland Fusion, a professional woman's football team, and part of the Woman's Football Alliance. She was voted the defensive MVP twice during her career. She then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to complete a five year Orthopaedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where she studied under innovative and nationally regarded surgeons in her field. The hospital was ranked nationally in the top 10 hospitals for Orthopaedic Surgery by US News and World Report. She then went on to complete one last year of specialty training in surgery of the hand and upper extremity also at the University of Pittsburgh. During fellowship she had the opportunity to work again with giants in her field; both past and present presidents of nationally recognized hand societies as well as surgeons that have made the "Top Doc" list of Pittsburgh for their compassionate care for many years in a row. Throughout her career she has authored many papers as well as multiple book chapters. Additionally, Dr. Manley has given several educational lectures throughout the state of New Mexico and Ohio. Dr. Manley moved to Las Cruces to fulfill a community need but also to satisfy her myriad of outdoor hobbies and to enjoy the constant sunshine. She then returned back home and is excited to be a member of this community and to assist you in any of your upper extremity related issues. Dr. Manley is a member of the American Society of the Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS)."
