Care Philosophy

I believe in doing a thorough psychiatric evaluation that involves the physical and mental aspects of a patient. I believe in holistic treatment meaning psychiatric treatment is not just about medications but a healthy lifestyle that includes eating a balance diet, exercise, getting good sleep and psychotherapy. I often incorporate checking for vitamin deficiencies which can be treated easily with supplements, checking for infections that can cause fatigue and genetic testing that tells me what meds to use and not to use so the patient does not feel like they are being experimented on. Education is key so the patient feels informed and is part of the process of getting them to feel better.Read more

Dr. Damayo has an utterly thankless job where I encountered her. A lot of her patients didn't go see her of their own volition, neither did I. I'm guessing most of the time the people that give her a bad review are ignoring how badly they need follow up. That does not mean she isn't a competent physician. She is there to stabilize a patient's condition, then refer them to further help if need be. Given a different venue, I KNOW she'd have a better rating. God speed, Dr. Damayo.

I think Dr. Damayo is a wonderful doctor. She takes the time to listen to her patients no matter how long it takes. Even when she is on call in the hospital, she will make time for someone who needs to be seen right away and is willing to add on at the end of the day for the same reason. You never feel rushed or ignored. Dr. Damayo takes the time to rule out other underlying causes before just handing out pills. If you need help, this is the person to call.

I would never refer her to anyone, even my worst enemy. I saw her for 3 + Years .She triple books and the one time that I was in crisis my family and myself tried to reach h out to said Dr,dropped me. After I had an appointment with, said Dr. I come home and find discharge papers. I really can still not believe she sat and looked me in the face and never said anything. She is a pill pusher and is all about the old mighty dollar. On another note her staff are slovenly and rude and uneducated.
I'm sorry you feel that way. I was there for you in crisis. You called my office several times in one day and I spoke to you and your family several times in one day for about a wk despite of my busy schedule. I disagree in your comments about me being a pill pusher, you know that is the contrary. I do not triple book, things run late in a psychiatric practice because patients need special attention sometimes. I could think of better ways to make money but I really do care about helping people.

I hold a certificate from the American Board of Addiction Medicine and I believe in using as much as non narcotic medications to treat patients in that population and educating them about not using medications that can be just as addicting.

I have had training in treating children and adolescents since the second year of residency so I am comfortable in treating that population who struggle with the basic issues of ADHD as well as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and autistic disorder.

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
