Dr. Mike Nguyen, MD, MPH has extensive experience in the latest robotic and minimally invasive approaches including robotic kidney-sparing partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer and robotic prostatectomy for prostate cancer. He is an expert in the treatment and prevention of kidney stone disease and is the founder of the popular "KidneyStoners" website for kidney stone patients. At his three clinic locations in Glendale, Los Angeles, and Pasadena CA, he also sees and treats patients for general urologic conditions. Dr. Nguyen was appointed the Director of Robotic Surgery at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in 2016. Prior to joining the faculty of USC in 2013, he was the Director of Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery at the University of Arizona. He is a leader in the prevention of urologic diseases including the prevention of prostate cancer and prevention of kidney stones. He was appointed a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology's (ASCO) Cancer Prevention Committee from 2015-2018 and was invited to participated in an NIH review panel for kidney stone prevention. He conducts research in several areas including prostate cancer prevention, kidney cancer evaluation, and the prevention of kidney stone disease. Dr. Nguyen has over 40 peer-reviewed articles in the urologic literature and is a reviewer for several urology journals. Dr. Nguyen completed his medical school and urology residency training at UC Davis and a fellowship in robotic and laparoscopic urologic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He also has a Master's in Public Health from UCLA.
