This content was provided by Dr. Schmitz "Originally from Arizona, Dr. Schmitz sought to live in the Northwest early in his career as he completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, Summa Cum Laude. After earning a Doctorate from the University of Washington with Honors in 1990, Dr. Schmitz completed a five-year orthopedic residency training at the University of Texas, Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. He then completed a one-year orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at the University of Rochester in New York in 1996. He subsequently practiced orthopedic surgery with an emphasis on sports medicine, shoulder and knee. Eleven years into private practice, he elected to complete a one-year fellowship in the comprehensive management of the adult cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women's Hospital, healthcare partners of the Harvard Medical School. Yes he has a busy office, but that's because he's popular because he's good at what he does. I've been going there for years now myself.
