Dr. Wood's Care Philosophy

As a Cardiac and Vascular surgeon, I have tried to approach my patients as I would want to be treated. My approach by many has been described as a misplaced general practice physician. I listen to each patients' problem and try to help them cope with life's issues. After surgery, being able to know they are going to be better is important and to be responsible for their their health helps them to be involved in their recovery. No one wants surgery, but to heal ones heart and mind helps to heal.

Dr. Wood and his staff are compassionate, knowledgeable and caring. I would highly recommend him.
in Hopewell, VA |
I was very impressed with Dr. Wood and he explained things very well. He seems to be an excellent physician and his staff is great. HOWEVER, yesterday I arrived at roughly 3:10 pm for a 3:15 pm appointment. I eventually left the office without being seen at exactly 5:00 pm. Waiting for almost 2 hours is ridiculous. I work in healthcare and realize things can come up but on my only other appointment with him I waited an excessively long time too. Not going back.
We apologize for this rare incident. Unfortunately things do come up with prolong a wait time for patients. Our office tries to accommodate individuals to help if they need to be rescheduled either to a new appointment time in regular clinic or any other day that may accommodate the patient. It is our purpose to give each patient the time they feel they need to talk and have questions answered and expectations met. Each patient will get the same attention no matter how long it takes.
