Dr. Teneriello specializes in the care of women with gynecologic cancers including cervical, uterine or endometrial, ovarian, vulvar, vaginal cancers, gestational trophoblastic disease. Dr. Teneriello has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic surgery, complex pelvic surgery, and radical surgery for advanced cancers, as well as chemotherapeutic and novel biologic treatments for gynecologic cancers. Dr. Teneriello is originally from Boston, MA. He is a 1979 graduate of Dartmouth College and a 1983 graduate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine of the City University of New York in NYC. He completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. After completion of training, Dr. Teneriello served as an obstetrician/gynecologist at the Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan. Upon return to the United States, he completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Walter Reed Army Medical and the National Cancer Institute in 1992. Subsequently, he served as the director of gynecologic oncology at Walter Reed Army Medical. Dr. Teneriello is a veteran of the US Navy and served during the first Gulf War. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Following honorable discharge, he served as the director of gynecologic oncology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1996 he was recruited as the first gynecologic oncologist to join the Austin practice of Texas Oncology. During this time he assisted in the recruitment of the additional physicians in the group. Dr. Teneriello is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society of Gynecologic Oncologist, Travis County Medical Society and Texas Medical Association. Dr. Teneriello has served as the chairman of the gynecologic research committee for The US Oncology Network and as a principal investigator for US Oncology Research, a lead institution in the NCI sponsored cooperative group, NRG Oncology. He has conducted more than 30 clinical cancer trials in Austin as the national or local principal investigator and is extensive published in the field of gynecologic oncology.
