Sometimes patients will come to us with a very specific concern. Memory loss is a big one, falls, decline in function, or sometimes looking for help, so they can better help their spouse who maybe is ill. We want to promote independence. We want to maximize function, want to make sure that folks are safe when they get home. If they need assistance from the community, we can help arrange those things. Most of my patients are in their 80s and 90s and they're still quite functional, and our goal is to try to maintain that and make sure they have the best quality of life as possible.
