My moto for my practice is "Your health on your terms". I learn what your concerns are as we talk and take our time working through the various issues of your health, mainly the gynecologic concerns, but also your whole health, from physical to emotional well-being. I discuss your concerns and engage you to express them and I respond by addressing each of your concerns in the clearest language possible. Of course, an exam is often needed with appropriate testing and ultrasound as indicated. Ultimately, my goal is to provide you the care that I would hope would be provided to a family member of mine.
I am Board-Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and I am a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I finished my four year residency in OBGYN in 1986 and have since been in private practice, mainly in Oregon. I graduated from medical school in 1982. Between graduation from college in 1970 and starting medical school in 1978, I actually worked in environmental and economic development planning for several years before deciding that being a doctor was my true calling in life. So I was an older student in medical school and I had the maturity to get the most out of it. I have witnessed first hand the landmark changes in healthcare of women with the major advances being in laparoscopic surgery, ultrasound and genetic screening.I have years of experience in women's health, initially practicing obstetrics as well as gynecology. I focus on all aspects of gynecology from routine conditions to very advanced surgery.I am also tremendously interested in the whole person, all of the parts of health and I help women find the best avenues of evaluation and treatment available. I also spend the time needed to get at all of the concerns of my patients. My goal is to treat every patient as I would expect a member of my family to be treated. This integrated approach to my medical practice and life is an out-growth of my basic values in the importance of health and physical and emotional well being.
