This content was provided by Dr. Klassen "Dr. Michael Klassen attended college at Bakersfield College, Bakersfield, CA (1970-1971) and earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Finance and Management from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA (1971-1974). He continued his education at California State College, Bakersfield studying Biology and Chemistry (1983-1984) and University of California, Los Angeles studying Chemistry and Physics (1984-1985). Dr. Klassen earned his medical degree from University of California, Los Angeles (1985-1989). He continued his training with Surgical Internship (General Surgery) at University of California, San Francisco (1989-1990); Surgical Residency (General Surgery) also at University of California, San Francisco (1990-1991). He then went on to Orthopaedic Residency (Orthopaedic Surgery) at the University of California, San Francisco (1991-1995). Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the Diplomate American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 1998 and Diplomate American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in Sports Medicine, Dr Klassen has been in practice with MPOSMI since 1999. He is the President and Medical Director and member of the Medical Board with Diplomate National Board of Medical Examiners 1990 and is affiliated with Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center, Central Coast Surgery Center and Natividad Hospital. Dr.Klassen was the Medical Athletic Director (2002-2013), California State University at Monterey Bay as well as Team Orthopaedic Physician (2001-2013; and was Team Orthopaedic Surgeon, Salinas Valley Samba Professional Futbal Team (2004-2008). He has also served as Team Orthopaedic Surgeon, Monterey Peninsula College (1999-2000); Anniston Orthopaedic Associates, Anniston, AL (1995-1999); Donoho High School Team Orthopaedic Surgeon, Anniston, AL (1995-1999); Walter Welborn High School Team Orthopaedic Surgeon, Welborn, AL (1996); and Assistant Team Orthopaedic Surgeon, San Francisco State University (1993-1994). Active in various professional organizations, Dr. Klassen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (1990); Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (2000) as well as being a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America; Consultant and Reviewer with the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery; Western Orthopaedic Association; and Member of the Board of Directors (2006-2018) with the California Orthopaedic Association and serves on the Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery; Member, Member of the California Medical Association; and Member of the Inman Abbott Society. Dr. Klassen is an Associate Master Instructor for shoulder and knee arthroscopy and teaches in the learning center in Chicago, IL. His professional interests are in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, sports medicine as well as cartilage transplant and ligament reconstruction. He is an avid golfer. The office called me on April 30th to confirm my appointment for May 1st and when I showed up, the office was closed. After 18 months all I need is a signature to release me back to full duty. Screwed again!

If you have an allergy that will require a change in his normal routine for surgical care, go elsewhere. Even when it's listed on your intake form and you discuss it with him ahead of time, his attitude is to do what he wants, not tell you (or family) you were given the allergen, make you go...more
