Dr. Michael Klassen attended college at Bakersfield College, Bakersfield, CA (1970-1971) and earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Finance and Management from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA (1971-1974). He continued his education at California State College, Bakersfield studying Biology and Chemistry (1983-1984) and University of California, Los Angeles studying Chemistry and Physics (1984-1985). Dr. Klassen earned his medical degree from University of California, Los Angeles (1985-1989). He continued his training with Surgical Internship (General Surgery) at University of California, San Francisco (1989-1990); Surgical Residency (General Surgery) also at University of California, San Francisco (1990-1991). He then went on to Orthopaedic Residency (Orthopaedic Surgery) at the University of California, San Francisco (1991-1995). Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the Diplomate American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 1998 and Diplomate American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in Sports Medicine, Dr Klassen has been in practice with MPOSMI since 1999. He is the President and Medical Director and member of the Medical Board with Diplomate National Board of Medical Examiners 1990 and is affiliated with Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center, Central Coast Surgery Center and Natividad Hospital. Dr. Klassen is an Associate Master Instructor for shoulder and knee arthroscopy and teaches in the learning center in Chicago, IL. His professional interests are in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, sports medicine as well as cartilage transplant and ligament reconstruction. He is an avid golfer.
