Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

Dr. Gutkin says...

My interest in hypertension started when I was a freshman in medical school and developed during my entire professional career. My ambition in medicine was to be a physician and teacher, and I am fortunate to have succeeded in both endeavors. I have the sublime pleasure of relating personally to my patients, while helping them live their lives to fulfillment by improving their health and comfort.

I have gained national recognition in the hypertension field by applying physiology in the office setting, for better understanding of the mechanisms which underly an individual patient's profile.

My career has been marked by innovations and initiatives. I founded one of the first ten VA hypertension clinics in the United States, founded the the Hypertension Section at Saint Barnabas Medical center in Livingston, N.J. and founded the  N.J Hypertension Society. I was a founding member of the American Society of Hypertension and served as President of its Eastern Chapter from 2013-2016.

My devotion to my practice has encouraged me to advance the art, and over my career as a practitioner I authored or coauthored 25 publications, most recently in the American Journal of Hypertension, April 2016.

While I enjoy the scientific aspects of medicine, nothing gratifies me as much as taking car of my patients' individual needs.
