This content was provided by Dr. Gratch "Michael J. Gratch, M.D., is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery. He became interested in orthopaedics as a young man, influenced by his father, a family physician. Sidelined by a back injury he suffered while playing basketball, Dr. Gratch solidified his interest in spinal surgery during medical school. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, achieving selection into the distinguished medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Temple University Hospital and trained in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Shriner's Hospital for Children, followed by a specialized fellowship in spinal surgery at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Gratch's particular area of expertise lies in the treatment of the lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine disorders, and he performs minimally invasive spine procedures when clinically appropriate. He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine as well as Drexel University School of Medicine. He has also presented at numerous professional meetings and community events and is a published journal and book author. Dr. Gratch has participated in multiple FDA trials and is actively involved in ongoing research that includes a non-fusion device for spinal stabilization. Dr. Gratch holds memberships in a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the North American Spine Society. He is on staff at Abington Memorial Hospital, Lansdale Hospital, Doylestown Hospital, and the New Britain Surgical Center."
