This content was provided by Dr. Friel "Dr. Michael Friel, MD, FACS, FAAP is a Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic surgeon who practices at the Ochsner Hospital for Children. Dr. Friel earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University and his medical degree from Tulane. He completed his surgical internship and residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston. He completed a fellowship in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery at the world-renowned Buncke Clinic in San Francisco, CA. He completed his Plastic Surgery Resicence at Temple University, in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed a one-year accredited fellowship in Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery at IU Health/Riley Hospital for Children. Dr. Friel is triple board certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and the American Board of Plastic Surgery – Subspecialty of Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Friel is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Plastic Surgery Section). He holds national leadership positions within the American Cleft Palate – Craniofacial Association and serves on the Editorial Board of the Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal. He is an active member in the American Society of Craniofacial Surgery and the American Association for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Friel's expertise is in Cleft Lip and Palate care, Craniofacial Surgery, and Pediatric Hand Surgery."
