Dr Chu has an excellent bed-side manner and calming presence in the delivery room. He made this very anxious first time-mom feel at ease and supported throughout every step of my pregnancy and delivery experience. Dr Chu allows ample time for his patients to ask questions and not feel rushed during appointments. His responsiveness to patients and availability to answer questions between visits is reassuring and allows for a strong doctor-patient relationship.

Dr. Chu was my doctor throughout my two pregnancies. He is kind, patient, and really takes the time to listen to his patients. I had a high risk pregnancy and he managed it extremely well and made sure I saw the appropriate specialists. He is the best doctor I have ever had, hands down.
He is very patient and takes the time to answer all your questions.

      Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

      Dr. Chu's Care Philosophy

My goal is two-fold: 1) to provide high level and up-to-date clinical care with the utmost compassion and respect, 2) by regarding patients as active participants in their own care and providing them with knowledge to do so.

      Dr. Chu says...

Robotic surgery is a an excellent technology that allows me to perform a number of complex procedures that traditionally would have either required a large abdominal incision or would have resulted in sub-optimal outcomes from traditional laparoscopy. These include:

hysterectomy complicated by dense scar tissue from endometriosis or previous surgery or by a very large uterus

myomectomy - selective removal of fibroids

diagnosis, treatment, and excision of endometriosis, including the use of laser.

Clinical training has included hands-on masters series courses, held by the leading surgeons in the nation.

I have performed over 100 robotic procedures and helped establish the robotic surgery program for general gynecology at UC Davis.
