A Birmingham native, Dr. Callahan received his medical degree at UAB. In private practice since 1976, he specializes in surgery of the eyes with emphasis on cataracts, medical and cosmetic eyelid surgery and botox treatment of wrinkles in the forehead and facial area.

Dr. Callahan is a professor of Ophthalmology at UAB and the UAB Callahan Eye Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

He serves on the staff at UAB Callahan Eye Hospital and is President of the International Retina Research Foundation.
