Dr. Michael C. Brown, MD, medical director of Marina Medical in Normandy Park, WA is board certified in both family medicine and geriatric medicine. In addition, he has expertise in emergency medicine and offers services for chronic illnesses, geriatric care, dementia, cognitive impairment, memory loss, hormone deficiency, migraines, and chronic pain among others. Laboratory testing is done on site, and urgent care walk-ins are accepted. Dr. Brown is also a pioneer in integrative medicine and brings 40 years of experience to his holistic approach to treating patients of both genders and all ages throughout the Puget Sound. He earned his medical degree at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, followed by an internship at Holy Cross Hospital, also in Salt Lake City. Upon completion of his internship, Dr. Brown spent two years as an Army medical training advisor at Fort Sam Houston, an Army based located in San Antonio. He started in private practice in the 1980s in Calabasas, CA where he was a pioneer in the holistic medicine and integrative medicine movements. He relocated to Seattle in 1990, and spent a decade as a director with Highline Medical Group, followed by five years as medical director of the Highline Geropsychiatric Unit, and two years as medical director of several local nursing and extended care facilities. Dr. Brown opened Marina Medicine in 2003, where he practices comprehensive family and geriatric medicine with an integrative approach. At Marina Medical, Dr. Brown emphasizes prevention and management of complex chronic diseases. The practice offers onsite education in nutrition, stress reduction (including meditation and yoga classes), and functional fitness instruction. When not working, Dr. Brown enjoys playing the trumpet, reading, meditation, and outdoor excursions with his family.
