We met Dr. Brooks for 10 minutes before my daughter's emergency appendectomy surgery where he reread what was in her report and explained the surgery. For this he charged $3500. His follow up care was brief but he was kind and she healed quickly from the surgery. Our issue is that we had no choice in who performed the surgery or the knowledge that he uses an out of state billing agency or that he would overcharge for services according to our health insurance. We have had a billing and insurance nightmare due to this situation. Unless he changes his billing office to one that is in state or comes to some kind of agreement with Texas Health Hospitals, my advice is to seek someone else if you have the option.
