I had a hip replacement with Dr. Blankstein in October and just got back from my first skiing turns of the season!!! Amazing!! My hip feels great!!! No more pain and I am able to do a lot more things now like I used to 3 -4 years ago. Dr. Blankstein and his staff are awesome and the whole process was very easy!! If you are thinking about getting a hip replacement, do it sooner than later.

Dr Michael Blankstein did a total knee replacement back in September of 2020. The knee feels great and I'm back to a normal life pain free. I would recommend Dr Blankstein to and body that needs a joint replacement.

Being under 50, it took a little bit to get through UVM's system to speak with a surgeon about replacement, but once I did everything moved quickly. Dr Blankstein met with me and explained the issue and procedure, answered my questions and I got in for surgery pretty quickly. The surgery itself was efficient, I felt well cared for and I was quickly on my way to recovery. 5 months in now and I feel great - wish I'd had the surgery sooner. The rest of the staff at UVM, particularly at the Total Joint Clinic, were outstanding. The procedures put in place for COVID seemed more than adequate and also resulted in a greater degree of efficiency (from a patients perspective anyway) than I have experienced at any other facility at any time.

Dr. Blankstein performed my total right hip replacement surgery four months ago. I am doing amazingly well and have returned to my normal 74 year old self thanks to Dr. Blankstein's expertise as an orthopedic surgeon. I highly recommend Dr. Blankstein and his entire staff. Not only are they well-organized, but also extremely patient, friendly and kind. I am a nurse, but I was scared to death of this surgery so it was important that I was helped to feel calm and confident ahead of this procedure. Now I am feeling strong, pain free, and very thankful!

Hip replacement surgery, everyone that I dealt with from Dr. Blankstein, the people in his office and the people in the hospital were fantastic. He was very clear on what to expect before and after surgery, and what I should do to help myself recover fully and as quickly as possible.

I had a total hip replacement in July 2020. I have never been happier about a health procedure than this one! Best thing I ever did! The experience was great from start to finish. I had experienced severe hip pain for a couple years prior to the surgery, and the cortisone shot lasted only a couple weeks. So, even though I was considered young (53) for this type of surgery, and was cautioned that I might need to have it redone sometime in the future, I don't regret the decision to do it for one second! The surgery was easy. I had less pain than prior to the surgery from the very moment I woke up from the anesthesia...and every day since. I was walking within a couple hours after surgery. I was walking a mile within a couple weeks. Within a couple months, I was utterly pain free, and I don't think about my hip at all - a completely 180 from before the surgery when I was reminded of it every second of every day. The doctor and staff are great. If you are considering it, do it!

I had a total left hip done in 2004. In June 2020 I had my right hip replaced. I chose Dr. Blankstein on the basis of a recommendation from a friend. I was told that he was very competent and patient oriented. He was all of these things and more. He is what I call the new breed of doctors who consider the welfare and concern for their patients as important their surgical skills. I enjoyed his personality which is positive and always upbeat. He is concerned about you and spends the requisite time to satisfy your questions and needs. In addition, his staff is first class. While the technology and procedures have certainly changed since I had my left hip done, the recovery was amazing. I was walking on the first day, driving in 4 weeks and riding my bicycle after 5 weeks. I have no pain and my gait has never been better. The other major change was the PT regimen if, which followed, made the recovery faster with superb results. He is the best and I highly recommend him.

World Class! Only 5 weeks out and I am fully functional with no pain. More strengthening and stretching will be required to get back to where I was before the arthritis but at the rate I am going, it will only be another month or so. A great job by Dr Blankstein!

Dr. Blankstein performed a full hip replacement in on me June 2020. I had been needing surgery for several years but opted initially for Cortizone treatments. Once it was determined that surgery was needed,I sought help from Dr.Blankstein. During the pre-op appointment Dr. Blankstein said that most patients say the surgery is life changing. My results were life changing !! I was walking without hip pain the day of my surgery and have been ever since. Anyone contemplating hip surgery should contact Dr. Blankstein for a consult you won't regret it !!

No doctor has ever explained a surgery the way he explained it, he spent plenty of time explaining everything to me and made sure i understood what was happening. I am now a year into my recovery and i feel great. He did such a great job on my knee replacement.

I'm 6 months post op from a total knee replacement. From my first meeting with Dr Blankstein I knew that he was who I wanted to do my surgery. I felt like I hit the jackpot when I met him, and that feeling turned out to be completely accurate. Besides being a very skilled surgeon, he is friendly, patient, encouraging, and he listens! My knee replacement surgery went very well. It is not an easy surgery or an easy recuperation, but I can happily say it was so worth it. I feel like I have my life back now. Thank you to Dr Blankstein and Nurse Tammy, you have made a wonderful difference!

I had a total left hip replacement performed by Dr. Michael Blankstein on 02/27/20. I had the frontal approach. I am 57 years old. I had been having problems with my left hip for 2 years. The second year became unbearable, and I felt that I had no quality of life anymore as I was constantly in pain and not even able to go for a walk anymore. I didn’t want to live on meds for the rest of my life. I admit that I was pretty upset when I found out that I was a candidate for a hip replacement. I felt that I was way too young. Dr. Blankstein assured me that he would fix me up and that I would no longer be in pain. He also assured me the recovery time would be very quick, especially for someone of my age and in good health. I can’t thank Dr. Blankstein enough. It has now been 4 mos. and my hips feel better now than they ever did. The exercises that I was given by the physical therapist made “both” my hips stronger than they have ever been. Thanks to all his staff as well.

I had a total right hip replacement in Jan, 2020. Before surgery, I experienced excruciating pain and limited mobility for many years. After researching, I made the decision to meet with Dr. Blankstein. He was very thorough and explained the procedure and answered my questions. I felt comfortable I had chosen the right doctor to preform my surgery. His team at the University of Vermont Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Center and The University of Vermont Medical Center were very thoughtful and caring. After surgery, I was able to walk and my limp was gone! That is very impressive. The pain is GONE! I can resume activities that were difficult or impossible before my surgery. I would trust and highly recommend Dr. Blankstein.

I had been in a great deal of hip pain for years and was limited to what I was able to do. At 49, I dreaded the thought that I might have to live in such a debilitating pain for many more years. I saw Dr. Blankstein last October and I had my total hip replacement done the same month. I was up walking (with a walker) the day of surgery (!) and returned to work within a month. It's been four months since my surgery and I am back to playing tennis, hiking, and skiing. No pain and I don't even think about my hip. Dr. Blankstein is a miracle worker and I got my life back. Not only he is a knowledgable and skilled surgeon, but he also has very good bedside manners. He is personable, caring and compassionate. His staff is great, too. Tammy, his assistant, is very patient and thorough. All around, five-star team and care!

I had a left hip replacement in Sept 2019. I was in alot of pain leading up to the surgery. That night after the surgery when I was able to stand, I was so happy that I started to cry. The pain was not there from the osteo arthritis. I was amazed on the instant relief. Dr Blankstein and the staff at the hospital are to be commended. Everyone involved was fantastic and made my experience life changing. If anyone has doubts about having hip surgery or any other type, than Dr Blankstein is the specialist for you.

I am 64 and had my hip replaced in August. I had less pain than before the surgery and was walking without a cane (approved by pt) within 3 weeks. It took longer to fully recover of course, but I would do it again in a heat beat. Love the staff (Tammy) too!
