Dr Birns performed a lateral release on my left knee. He was very attentive to my many questions. He took a team approach to my care as and understood that I know my body better than anyone. His laid back pragmatic style was refreshing. Note: I try to take the early morning appointments as the wait time often times would be long as the day progressed.

Best surgeon ever ! Replaced my right hip due to arthritis and I was up and active in a few weeks. No complications at all. one year later, replaced my left hip for the same reason- again, a perfect surgery with no problems- 3 months later I was jazzercizing and doing yoga as if nothing was ever wrong. Before the surgery I couldn"t walk up stairs or get out of a car without pain . Now , at 68, I feel twenty years younger.

Dr. Birns answered all my questions concerning my right hip. He was easy to have a dialogue with, and hopefully made my decision making somewhat easier. Now I have a game plan moving forward!

Dr Birns performed surgery on my knee where I had a pretty bad staph infection. He removed the bursa sack and performed a “cleanout”. The surgery was a success but the infection spread. Not only did Dr Birns help me get transferred to another facility we felt could treat the infection better but when I got there (Jefferson Hospital) the doctors there complimented his work. I don’t know a lot of fancy words and this might be downright crude but he just seemed to genuinely give a crap about me.

Dr Birns was my excellent "luck-of-the-day" at the walk-in Premier clinic to check whether I had an injury requiring treatment after a fall. Very routine stuff for Dr. Birns, but he was very caring and helpful and not at all hurried. Turned out my elbow is broken and my knee is not, but still needs treatment, so it was important to check, but it wasn't an ER-worthy level of injury and pain. Good luck finish to an unlucky moment!

Dr. Birns is a fantastic doctor who really listens to his patients. He looks at his patients as a total person not just specific body parts which is so important for patients with multiple medical issues like myself. Additionally he consults with the other doctors on diagnoses. His assistant Nick is also excellent. Very professional office.

He has a great aptitude in giving comfort and assurance that “you’re in good hand”. Anybody with any kinds of fear, Dr. Michael Birns is the Doctor for you! Take it from a lady who has a huge fear of doctors and hospitals. Dr Birns has my complete trust!

My name is Frank Rusek I am 54 yrs old and ruptured my hamstring this past winter on ice. Dr. Birns surgically repaired my injury, it has been 6 months since my surgery and I am productive and pain free. If you have any doubt about putting off surgery to restore your life, don’t. Mike’s the man!

Dr. Birns is one of the best physicians I have ever seen. He actually takes the time talk with you to really try and understand what is going on. He walks you through and involves you in the treatment options and takes a genuine interest in his patients. Only"negative" is you typically have to wait longer than most other practices to see him for an office visit. This is because he spends more than 5-10mins w/his patients which isn't really a negative. Highly recommend.
