Zero stars...if I could
Horrible. We didn't click, I requested to see a different provider (after multiple tries with him), only to be told that I would have to see him one more time. The clinic manager did not take calls from me with my concerns either. Dr. Bergan should not be working with patients anymore. PLEASE do not waste your time with this facility. Thankfully we have found a new provider/facility that truly care about the patient.

Very condescending and quick with his responses and appointments, overall. He also took zero accountability when he missed multiple virtual visits, which resulted in me being "terminated due to missing appointments." If you're looking for compassion, keep looking.

Bad bad bad dr. No empathy or caring or wanting to help. Sits at the seat like a two yr old. He has a smirk look on his face the hole time. You have to wait to see him.

Stay far away from this guy. I agree with other reviewers that he seems to have no compassion or empathy. But worse than that, he seems to have no clue what he's doing professionally. It almost felt like I was working with an overgrown child who had skimmed a few pamphlets about what a psychiatrist is. Thank god I found a better provider at Sanford. I probably could have found a better doctor at Avera, but I decided I couldn't trust an institution that would hire someone like Dr. Bergan.

Very superficial and has constantly been late for every appointment I have had with him, with no apology every time you try to open up to him regarding emotional issues you are having, he gets this look on his face like he just smelled a bad fat. And then he never even gives advice on what I should do, let alone question me further about these issues. HE LACKS EMPATHY.It's like taking to a new Doctor, fresh out of Collage who just realized that this all is not for him, and can't wait 4 u to go.

Always has a student intern in the room with him. Contradicts his own statements all the time. Always makes you wait at least an hour from the initial appointment.

I have been to psychiatry associates before and was very disappointed in the manner the Dr. At that time was treating me. He never looked me in the face. Dr. Bergan was the opposite and I am a customer support manager and I know if empathy and care is given me. Dr. Bergan was attentive, empathetic and most of all, he was listening. I do a mental test on Dr's to see if they get distracted or I have to repeat myself.

Not a fan of this Doctor.Seems that all we did was go through his list of: are you suicidal? are you happy? are you sad? are you... He told me it was highly unlikely I'd never feel better. Didn't seem to care about getting me the right medication as well. Not one I'd recommend. I also found that the one young receptionist to be very rude. I already have issues, I don't need hers as well.

It starts with the receptionist who is rude and curt. This is a clinic where people come to for help and are feeling desperate. Second I had problems with my medications not once but twice. The first one was very serious and it was never resolved for a month. The second time the nurse put me on speaker phone, HIPPA violation. Had to go way over her head after attempting to resolve the issue 3 times. He charged me extra seeing him the next time for "counseling" or some crap like that. Poor care.

Would not recommend this doctor to anyone. He says he listens & cares but doesn't really which is not his fault, as he has his own psychiatric issues preventing empathy & sympathy to be expressed or experienced. I have to wait half hour or more each visit. He didn't look at my Avera Primary Care information or get records from my last psychiatrist who retired & unfortunately ended up with Bergan.

My husband was 10 minutes late for an appt due to road construction and being on crutches recovering from knee surgery. He had drove 2 hours to his appt and Dr Bergen refused to see him and made him reschedule. Which we won't be doing.
