I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Melinda Hawkins. Dr. Hawkins did a fistulectomy and excised a pilonidal cyst for me. What impressed me most is her patience to explain clearly to me my various options, and her pleasant bedside manner. I was even more impressed by her actions following the surgery. Dr. Hawkins was very keen about post opp appointments, making sure I would have the best chance at a full recovery. Last week I flew back from out of state to see Dr. Hawkins for a post opp appointment. Her schedule was fully booked, yet Corbyn and Dr. Hawkins made time out of her busy schedule to come up from the operating room to see and examine me. I was blown away by her empathy and compassion and expertise. I am lucky to have Dr. Hawkins as a surgeon.

Dr. Hawkins from day 1 was professional, kind, direct and obviously knowledgeable in her diagnosis and plan for me and my care. This years journey started late January and will hopefully be completed by the end of this year. She laid it out and it was true to her estimated timeline. She and a great team created a plan for me to successfully treat my cancer and become cancer-free. She was spot on with her diagnosis and what needed to happen. I knew she would do her part so I did mine and trusted their expertise. I am grateful for her skill/expertise and the team she has in place to help people like me get better. From scheduling appointments, mapping the process, to surgeries and after surgery care it is obvious that Melinda and her team (August, Corbyn, Cecilia and more) care for each patient, are very compassionate, professional and responsive. I think the best way I can let them know how appreciative I am is to share my experience with you here if you are not sure who to trust.

God bless Dr. Hawkins. Our family wants to deeply appreciate and thank her for her professional care. She is a patient, thoughtful, and compassionate doctor who helped our mom make informed decisions about her body. Diagnosed with colorectal cancer recently, our family, especially our mom, of course, went through mental and emotional storms every day. Dr. Hawkins, on multiple occasions, shared her comforting words and gestures with our mom, which we are especially grateful for. Just before the surgery, when her staff was getting prepared, Dr. Hawkins stayed with our mom, actively attending to our mom’s fear and anxiety. Our mom will never forget this moment, the warmth she felt when Dr. Hawkins held her hands until she was put to sleep. We are again grateful for the great care and surgery performed on her on June 18, 2020. We all feel so blessed to have her as our doctor! We also want to thank our wonderful Swedish medical staff- we appreciate all you have done for our mom.

I would highly recommend Dr. Hawkins to anyone who needs to have colorectal surgery. Not only did she do excellent work as a surgeon for my intestinal resection surgery, she also helped me to feel supported as a patient throughout the entire process. I also really appreciated how Dr. Hawkins remains current with the best practices in her field & shares that information with patients.

Dr Hawkins was kind, compassionate and concerned about my complete health not just “my parts” that she was going to perform surgery on. I never had to wait in the office more than 10 minutes to see her. It was a successful life changing event for myself and my family. I have already recommended Dr Hawkins to several other people. I can’t thank her enough for her skills as a surgeon and her carrying as a human being.

I saw Dr. Hawkins for a consultation last week, and had surgery with her yesterday. Dr. Hawkins is kind, compassionate, confident, and very knowledgeable. I've seen multiple other doctors about this issue, and she was the only one to actually figure it out. I'm 22, and this is my first major medical issue, therefore it was kind of my first surgery, but everyone was so kind and considerate. Hopefully I don't need anymore surgery, but I would recommend her and Swedish in general to anyone.
