Meher Khan, M.D. is a medical practitioner, health care advocate, girls education activist, inter- and intra-faith counselor, wife, and mother in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the former role, Dr. Meher Khan assesses, formulates and implements optimal health care and life style changes for patients suffering from allergic and immune-related disease, providing them with advice in nutrition, exercise, meditation, and overcoming socio-economic barriers directly related to their health. She is particularly interested in upstream biosocial causes of disease. As a global health care advocate, she is a Community Advocate with Partners in Health in Boston for over three years. She served in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas in Northern Pakistan, with International Medical Corp (IMC), under the jurisdiction of Hilary Clinton, Department of State, in 2009. Synonymous with these roles, Dr. Khan spent over six years as a girls education and human rights advocate with Girls Learn International (now affiliated with the Feminist Majority Foundation), where she connected schools in PA and DE -private and public- to girls schools in Uganda and Pakistan. She also worked with executives of NGOs, local and international Rotary Clubs, school faculty, students, and private business owners, to facilitate awareness, advocacy, political liaisons, and fund-raising. Dr. Khan holds a post-graduate medical fellowship from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and a medicine-pediatrics dual residency from Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she graduated with honors. Dr. Khan is a Board Certified allergist-immunologist, served on the Board of Trustees of Rosemont College, the American-Muslim Society of the Tri-State Area of PA, DE, & NJ, and is on the Parent and Family Council of the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
