Max Shokat, D.O. is a dual board certified fellowship trained interventional pain specialist who specializes in the non-operative treatment of pain. As a doctor of osteopathic medicine, Dr. Shokat practices a 'whole person' approach to patient care. He is skilled in the use of osteopathic manipulative medicine, a hands-on approach to help diagnose and treat illness and injury. He utilizes multiple treatment modalities and the most advanced pain treatments to maximize his patients' pain relief. His overall goal is to improve function and the quality of life for his patients.
Dr. Shokat began his education at the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked in the private sector before pursuing his medical degree. Dr. Shokat received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine. He then obtained his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Shokat then continued to further subspecialize in interventional pain through a fellowship at the University of Florida Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute.
Dr. Shokat is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians as well as the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Shokat has conducted valuable research and has been published in professional journals.
