Dr. Alexander was born in Laredo, Texas, and she attended high school in San Antonio where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She then attended MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology. While there she was elected to the honor societies of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Lambda Upsilon. She then proceeded with medical school at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where she became a member of the honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. She went on to complete her internship at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and her residence in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio. Dr. Alexander has been in private practice in South Austin for more than 30 years and is board certified in ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Ophthalmological Association, and the Travis County Medical Society. She is a past president of the Austin Ophthalmological Society. She resides in South Austin and supports various arts organizations such as Austin Opera and Ballet Austin. She enjoys an active lifestyle working out at the gym, walking her dog, traveling, and gardening. She is bilingual and speaks Spanish fluently.
