Care Philosophy

I strive for the highest ethical standards of care, offering only well-reasoned and accurate diagnoses, then ensuring that patients understand their problem and treatment. In many offices, patients often spend most of their time with technicians and other staff members, with the doctor making a short appearance at the end of the visit. Patients visiting my office will spend most of their time with me and I will personally perform the exam including the glasses prescription and pressure check.Read more

Dr. Ward says...

Dr. Ward has a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of Fuch's dystrophy and is one of the first surgeons in the Intermountain West to offer DMEK surgery as his surgical treatment of choice for this condition.  DMEK surgery is the most advanced surgery available to treat Fuch's dystrophy and other forms of corneal swelling.  DMEK has several advantages over older types of surgery that include better vision, more rapid recovery, and dramatically reduced rates of rejection.  Dr. Ward helped develop the injector system for these very delicate transplants that is rapidly becoming the preferred injector for DMEK surgery in the United States.

Dr. Ward says...

Dr. Ward offers comprehensive cornea and anterior segment services and is equipped with the latest technology to evaluate, diagnose, and treat complex pathologies.  Conditions he commonly treats include: cataracts, pterygium, Fuch's dystrophy, keratoconus, bullous keratopathy, failed cornea transplants, corneal scars, epithelial basement membrane dystrophy, Salzmann's nodular degeneration, intraocular lens and cataract surgery complications, conjunctival tumors, and infectious corneal disease including herpetic, bacterial, fungal, and amoebic keratitis.

He is also fellowship-trained in approved types of refractive surgery including LASIK, PRK, and Visian ICL surgery.
