Dr. McKenzie and his PA Lee are true professionals. I’m not looking forward to my knee surgeries but trust they will be done in a comforting and caring manner. They were so pleasant to me and my son, addressed my concerns and made suggestions that would make me more comfortable. I’ve already recommended them to a couple of my friends.

After four months of dealing with constant severe back pain from herniated discs, I was referred to and met with Dr Matthew McKenzie of Orthopedic Institute. Soon thereafter he performed surgery at the Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls SD, after which I walked out pain free. Over seven weeks later, I am still pain free and doing well. Dr McKenzie and all staff were wonderful, so kind, caring, knowledgeable, and professionally skilled. The talent and follow up has left me extremely thankful. Dr McKenzie has my utmost respect and appreciation. I'll be recommending him to others with similar needs as mine.

I have been seeing Dr. McKenzie for many years and have now had both my knees replaced and cannot say enough good things about him and his staff. They are wonderful and I would recommend him for anybody requiring an orthopedic physician. My daughter recently broke her collarbone badly and needed it surgically repaired and we were also very pleased with this surgery and the overall service/treatment she received from Dr. McKenzie and his whole staff. They are amazing!

It’s very simple. As far as I’m concerned, Dr. McKenzie has given me my life back. I have been in 24 hour a day pain for 4 months. He did laminectomy on L2,3,4 and fused L2-5. When I woke up all pain was gone immediately. I’m 2 weeks post op as I write this and recovery is going amazingly well. In my opinion Dr. McKenzie is absolutely fantastic. I trusted him with my mobility and I HIGHLY recommend him.

I was referred to Dr. Matt by Dr. Peter Cole of Regions Hospital of St. Paul MN. where he reconstructed my pelvis after a bad MVA that nearly took my life. That was 13 yrs. ago last month. I had numerous complications from the accident that left my left leg {thigh bone} fractured in three spots, so they employed a 13" titanium rod thru my femur and it remained there for two years b/for Dr. Matt would put in my new hip implement known as a "Zimmer" with extended stem on it b/cause of the damage done to my femur. since that time, I have had numerous visits with the Dr. for bursitis, and arthritis as well. Having shared this with you, Dr. Matt has great passion for what he does, & helps his patients understand the difference b/tween Prognosis & Diagnosis, which puts his patients at ease. Being an "active listener" & has proved to be of great benefit to me when we meet, b/cause I know he listens to me----and that is huge!! for any patient! That's it from my side, thanks for listening :)

Dr. Matthew McKenzie is the embodiment of what every physician should want to be. Besides being a top notch surgeon, he is very personable and not in the least bit condescending as some physicians are. Instead, he is an excellent listener and does his utmost best to answer any and all of your questions. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field, and no doubt I would rate him as the most qualified and personable physician I have met in my 71 years of life. I have nothing but positive to say about him and highly recommend him to anyone needing orthopedic care.

I had TKR on December 9, 2020. My initial visit with Dr.McKenzie was great, all questions were answered. Very informative, was told of what to expect during and after surgery. Great bedside manner on day of surgery at Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital, showed real concern for my surgery. This was my second TKR ( did left knee in January) with Dr.McKenzie. Both surgerys went well and would definitely recommend to anyone.

Between my spouse and me, Dr. McKenzie has fixed 2 knees and a shoulder, and helped us through a herniated disc. In each case he was our reason behind regaining pain-free mobility. We wholeheartedly agree with all the other positive comments about friendliness, manner, listening and skill. He's very experienced, doesn't rush one into surgery, and we trust him completely to help us decide what's best. Seems humble. Overall, we'd say he's a great physician and has a great staff. So glad we have access to him.
