He viewed my MRI & said i had torn meniscus, need surgery. He consulted less than a minute and didnt seem interested to explain problem with my knee & how surgery would fix it. So, I went to another Dr for second opinion, who confirmed the torn meniscus but said I also had a cyst in the knee, which should be taken out. Matava had missed the cyst (too bad) - If i did surgery with Matava, he prob would not remove the cyst. I am glad i did surgery with second Dr., and i am perfectly well now.

I had an ACL repair with Dr. Matava. After surgery I had nerve damage.which I reported to him. Dr. Matava was not helpful in figuring out the nervevwas severed during surgery. He never followed up or acknowledged my issue. I still have numbness and pain a year later. He never explained this risk to me.

I've been seeing Dr. Matava for a torn MCL and ACL. My first visit went very well he explained everything in a way I could understand and spent the time answering all my questions I never felt rushed. Surgery was supposed to be at the outpatient center but due to my medical history it had to be moved to a regular hospital. Due to this unforeseen change Dr. Matava is going to have to cancel half a day of patients to accomidate me. I'm so glad I have him looking out for my best interests.

Dr. Matava came highly recommended, however, he severed my daughter's nerve during routine meniscus surgery (not figured out for 2 years!) When she continued to complain of pain, we got sent to more physical therapy, when that didn't work, he even implied it was a mental thing! Finally, a pain specialist connected to his office (who tried cortisone) directed us to a nerve specialist, who in the first 10 minutes of our visit, knew exactly what happened. Surgery removal of the nerve restored her.

I was beyond impressed with my experience at Dr. Matava's office my very first visit. I had fell and dislocated my knee while running. He took one look at my knee moving it gently to not hurt me and told me what he thought was wrong. He ordered a MRI to confirm his diagnosis. The results were just what he thought. The reconstructive surgery of my knee went well. He also called me the day after surgery to check on me. I have nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Matava and his staff.

Dr. Matava is BEST in our experience working with Orthopaedic Physician's. Dr. Matava has listened to all of our concerns of being very nervous dealing with Orthopaedic issues of any type. He has been patient, understanding and concerned for us that everything runs smoothly before, during and after surgery. He has never rushed any of this process for us whether it was the many questions we had or therapy after surgery. He is the best to have for a Orthpaedic Physician.
