How could anyone give this man more than one star?
I went to Dr Marano for my cataract surgery. The office always seemed overwhelmed and I never waited less than an hour. One day I waited 2 1/2 hours and when I did see him he was rushed and dismissive of my concerns. On the day of the cataract surgery he also kept me waiting over an hour. One of the nurses at the surgical center told out of all the doctors at the center he is the worst in terms of keeping his patients waiting for surgery. I did not have a successful outcome for my cataract surgery and am still trying to get my eyes to focus properly. Between his condescending, dismissive attitude and the poor results I obtained from my cataract surgery I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.

My experience with Dr. Marano was life-changing and amazing. I started with a visit to just see what might be able to be done with my eyesight. I have ended up with the best vision that I can remember ever and without glasses! I have a history of surgical repair of strabismus as a child, a significant astigmatism and cataracts. I learned more about my eyes at the first visit as they put my history together and explained where I was currently. I traveled from out of state for the assessment and surgery. When I return to my local physician for surgical follow up, he repeatedly told me what an amazing job Dr. Marano had done and that I should consider myself privileged to have had the opportunity for the care that I received. He had not previously been aware that the lens and procedure D Marano used were even available. Dr Marano’s expertise coupled with the other competent, caring staff made for an all around outstanding experience that I am deeply grateful for!

Kudos to MEC. I have always gotten excellent eye care at MEC - first with Dr. Pearlman, who is now retired. Dr. Pearlman was a great help to me after my unhappy cataract lens replacement with another doctor's practice. On my recent visit, I had Dr. Jobe who is new with the practice. Dr. Jobe was easy to talk with; he quickly analyzed and solved the problem of my painful and stressed red eyes. He carefully, calmly and clearly answered all of my questions and made recommendations to allay my fears to my complete satisfaction. Dr. Jobe and the Staff at MEC were friendly, courteous and efficient. Many thanks to everyone! Michael Curtis

Dr is excellent I know him for more than 25 years Ii met him when he did cataract surgery for my mother, now that my ophthalmologist retired I started coming to his office in Newark, because I trust him and the group of doctors that work fir him. The assistants usually are nice and competent, but the gentleman who does peripheral vision test can be a tittle rough . The receptionists are excellent. Overall a good experience.

Dr. Marano is kind, tactful, and generous with his time and talent. My elderly grandparents had recently undergone unsuccessful cataract surgery (each) at the hands of another surgeon. They endured two months of pain, discomfort, and uncertainty of whether they were going to be able to see again. That is when a family friend referred us to Dr. Marano who thoroughly reviewed my grandparents’ treatment records, identified the problem areas, and scheduled remedial surgery within five (5) days. Further, Dr. Marano was patient and explained the procedure step-by-step, reassuring them that they’d be able to see again. After the surgery, he sat with them and asked how they were feeling. They even took a picture together! Dr. Marano and his staff treat everyone with respect and deliver personalized care to their patients. I would highly recommend him for yourself and/or your loved ones.

WAIT TIME IS REALLY HORRIBLE. Be prepared to spend 3 hours + there. They booked too many appointments all at once and the same time and it is noticeable in the waiting area, so unpractical. I had a 1:15pm appointment for my mother then 3:30pm she still didn't see the doctor, so we left. Great Staff and the Doctor is really EXCELLENT. So if you have time to spare, then go there, but If you are in a rush, then don't. That's the 7th time. Same thing.
