I’ve been seeing Doctor Axelrod for about 3 years & he is just fantastic. He talks to you as a person not just as a doctor/patient relationship. He explains things very well & has a good bedside manner. My doctor, who is part of the Lowell General network sends all of her patients in need of a rheumatologist to him. Pretty high praise.

This Dr. Needs help with his bedside mannner it is much to be desired, don't get into a debate with him he is very vengeful when pointed out he is incorrect, he needs to stick to his field instead of getting involved in an area that he is not familiar with, I have seen many Doctors, he has been the worst Dr. that I have had to deal with in the past twelve years. Lahey Clinic needs to take a good look at him he doesn't belong in The Transplant Department he needs to go back to Rheumatology.

Dr. Axelrod is an excellent provider who is very accessible via phone and LCMC's PHR messaging system. As a frequent traveler, I feel very comfortable contacting him with questions or updates. He responds in a timely manner. He practice pragmatic evidence-based medicine, which I truly appreciate. While this is not specific to his direct care, an issue I experience regularly is not being able to schedule follow-up appointments within the parameter he specifies, usually a few weeks later.

Dr. Axelrod is one of the most caring and thorough doctors I have ever worked with. I have a complicated medical history and have met dozens doctors. Dr. Axelrod takes as much time as necessary to deal with issues in each appointment. He listens carefully, answers all questions, and has a natural gift for bedside manner and putting you at ease. He is grounded and honest and will always give you his best, even if that's acknowledging he isn't sure - and then he prioritizes finding those answers!
