If it weren't for Dr. Wiedau, I would be in a wheelchair. Instead, I am still walking fairly normally. I went to a similar neurologist @ UC Irvine Medical Center because it was a closer drive; however, I was appalled because he yelled at me after a brief test and told me "there's nothing wrong with you!" so my daughter drove me to UCLA and thankfully I saw Dr. Wiedau. She is very kind and compassionate so I don't understand these other negative reviews.

In my opinion this doctor should not be allowed to see patients. After a 5 minute exam she told me I had ALS with the same compassion of a waitress saying “here’s your hamburger”. Her questions indicated she had not reviewed my health records. Her opinion was based upon a single "distinguishing factor" a weak angle; one I had sprained a few months earlier. No publication supports this diagnosis after just six months, based on a single factor; an opinion not supported by my prior neuro-exams

As someone else mentioned, she does not completely review your file first. I could go on but I think my 1 star is enough.

I do not recommend this doctor at all. When she does not have an answer to your question she just makes one up. She did not even review my file or read what I brought her. If you are looking for answers about your condition, she is not the one to go see.

This Director of ALS should not be in this field. She lacks compassion, the ability to connect with patients and feels it's necessary to be dismissive of her patients questions. The multidisciplinary staff spends more time with the patient than the doctor herself. For the official diagnosis she spent 30 minutes with me, for all follow up appointments she's spent 10 minutes. Thank GOD its open enrollment at my work, i'm switching from HMO to PPO. My advice, stay far way from UCLA!
